I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Make sure to try the ribs, and if the weather is warm eat outside under the trees. It is a pleasant experience. This place started out small but has grown over the years to accommodate a lot of people outside when it is warm. Get there early and try... More

We saw Tail O' the Pup as we drove into Lake Placid and knew we had to visit on our way home. Boy, were we glad we made that choice. We did not expect to find authentic southern-style BBQ in the area! The food was fantastic. I had the brisket & pulled pork w/ collard greens & corn bread. The... More

Tail of the Pup is situated halfway between Lake Placid and Saranac lake. Its a good place to get away from the hustle of Lake Placid and have a quiet meal.

Drove around. Lake Placid...very crowded, no parking, etc. Drove a few miles west and found this place. Inside and outside seating. A little cool so it was inside. Comfortable booths, great sound track, good bbq. The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best ever. Side of slaw, some waffle fries, a dose of the house-made sauce...a three napkin lunch.... More

Outdoor lunch on a beautiful day! We all had claim chowder which was delicious, lots of clams. Also had riblets- great taste and just right amount with the cup of soup. Servers were good. Rustic atmosphere.

Service was nice and friendly. My wife's lobster-bake was outstanding, my ribs where dry and tasteless. If you praise yourself to be all about BBQ, you should really offer more than ONE barbecue sauce and have some kind of a bbq-beans recipient so they don't taste like they're right out of the can. Overall, it was not terrible, but it... More

Stopping here is always a Lake Placid must for the family. I wish it wasn't. The restaurant has managed to create a presence and is a big draw in the area but I am always disappointed with both the food and service. Overpriced for what you get.

A Texas pint of local beer was $10... Server was good, Corn was awful. Go for unpretentious food at high price. Too Expensive, out door seating.

This place was perfect! Halfway between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, stop here for live music and friendly service and great food! We loved it.
