We've been going to the Palmer House for years (20+) and during the time it was run my Micah and Rochelle, we enjoyed many meals there. So we returned last month (not knowing Micah and Rochelle were gone) and found a different restaurant. The service was awful. We sat at our table for 30 minutes before anyone came over. We... More

We were there at 7 pm and it took nearly an hour to get our food. It's a simple menu and good comfort meal.

We were traveling with our chocolate lab and the Palmer came highly recommended by our hostess at the DeWitt (also a fabulous place) who mentioned the Palmer might welcome dogs since they have an outdoor seating area. When we arrived, they were not serving outside, but the hostess took pity on us and let us sit in the back area... More

The Palmer House has a dining section plus a pub in the back (both small). Though the menu(s) doesn't offer a vast selection, what is on offer ought to pretty much satisfy most people. The (s) in menu is because there is a restaurant menu AND a pub menu. The focus seems to be on fresh and local ingredients and... More

Loved this place. The food is excellent, the service is great. I liked the outdoor patio but we had dinner at the bar. They were a little busy but they were always nice and attentive.

Thursday night is not so busy-go then. Meals and dessert we ate were of freshest local farm to table and flavor was like unami all over the plate. Had chicken livers from free run chickens-small but intensely flavored and sautéed kale was unexpectedly delicious-order the chicken livers a bit rarer (best chicken livers since chopped chicken livers). Steak taco special... More

Good food and fresh from the garden when possible. Menu changes frequently. Little small so you might want to make reservations.

The town is very quaint. We felt the food was on the expensive side for what you got. Kind of empty when we were there which surprised us as there is no where else to go in town.

What a jewel in the rough. There are pretty average restaurants in the Albany / Capital region area. In fact, I've come to accept the mediocrity since it seems one restaurant after another... just isn't all that great. My wife and I were hiking in the preserve by Renssaelerville and decided to grab a bite to eat at the Palmer... More
