They have the best burgers in town or if you want a different option, I love their BLT with mac salad. The waitress is funny and always in a good mood.

I rate diner/ restaurants by comparing two items- 1- Hash and Eggs with home fries and rye toast. Here they make homemade corned beef hash that is delicious. Home fries are real potatoes- not deep fried diced potatoes or the shredded stuff often served. B-..."Cheeseburger Deluxe". Here its a huge burger on a tasty roll with choice of cheese. Fries are fresh and plentiful. I like their Rodeo Burger with barbecue sauce and onion rings. Once a place passes my test on these items I try other things- Perhaps the best meatloaf and mashed with gravy in town!More
On a trip to the Capital Region for several days, I ventured into Schoharie in the Central New York Region for a long daytrip. The Old Stone Fort Museum and Schoharie Valley Railroad were the main places of interest for me. Thanks to other TripAdvisor...reviewers, I had recommendations on where to have lunch. After spending about three hours walking around at the Old Stone Fort Museum, I was ready for lunch. On arrival at The Country Cafe, I was impressed with the inviting exterior and cozy interior. It was exactly what I expected of a place named the Country Cafe. One of the first things I noticed was the tin ceiling which meant the building likely dated from the 1880’s. The hostess greeted me and invited to sit anywhere. I took a booth in the front window in the side room. The two men in the adjacent booth were eating their burgers and mountains of French fries. I couldn’t help but notice how perfect the fries looked. I asked them about the fries. They said they always came out that way. I made my decision to have something that came with fries like those. After I got settled, the waitress brought a glass of ice water with lemon. The drinking glasses were like Mason jars without handles. I ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato at $5.49 with French Fries at $2.59, plus a Tossed Salad a $2.99. With NY State Tax of 79 cents, the total was $10.66. It was about 10-minute wait for my salad. The salad was a 4.0 with two olives, 4 pieces of tomato, 4 pieces of cucumber, and several slices of white onion. The Thousand Island dressing was a 5.0. It was thick and rich with just the right amount of tang to it. It was less than a minute after I finished the salad when my sandwich and fries arrived. The sandwich was grilled to perfection to a light golden color. The two pieces of cheese were completely melted. The tomato in the middle was partially cooked. The sandwich bread was larger than normal. The sandwich was a 4.75. The French fries were high quality. There were no brown peels still attached to them. There was only one spot of discoloration on one of dozens of fries. Some of the fries were small - about about 0.5”; others were 2" or longer. They were cooked thoroughly. The outside was slightly crispy, and the inside was soft on every one I ate. The very generous portion was enough for three servings. I rate the fries a 4.50. I really enjoyed my meal there and would eat there again. Service was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The place was clean. Averaging everything out, I rate Country Cafe at 4.50, my highest rating for this type of restaurant; and, I highly recommend stopping by for lunch. I have been to this establishment multiple times for breakfast. I particularly enjoy their sausage links as they have a hint of maple in them.
This visit was my first; the rest of our group always stops here for breakfast on the way to Sunny Hill Resort. I was the first to arrive and I helped the waiter put tables together for our party. She quickly brought me a good...cup of coffee. Every table was filled while I was there. I had a sausage and Swiss cheese omelet. It was excellent. I will definitely come back to this place.More
Stopped in for some lunch a little while ago and can't believe I'm just writing a review now. The restaurant may look a little unassuming from the outside, but it's the staff and the food that make this place shine. Kudos to the chef!
The staff was friendly and truly helpful about the town and the community. A long breakfast menu so everyone's taste should be met.

Schoharie is a charming town in the Schoharie Valley and is a good focal point for scenic drives and antiquing. The Country Cafe is a simple, homey spot with excellent service and food that is fresh, high quality and surprisingly varied for a small dining...spot. The fresh desserts and especially the pies are a big attraction for locals but what draws me back is the selection of well constructed sandwiches like the fresh apple and turkey that is moist and flavorful. The breakfast selection is standard country fare (eggs, hash, etc) prepared with a very personal and skillful touch). The real tip-off about the quality of the food at Country Cafe? For me it was the expertly cooked French fries and sweet potato fries and the quality of the bread they used for the sandwiches. Service is also excellent - this is a great find for a quick and high quality meal.More
The first thing you need to know is that there is one waitress and one cook at all times. This use to be known as the Thyme Cafe. Breakfast was an adventure. The menu was filled with choices like Shrimp and grits southern style, crepes filled...with delightful, tasty fruity things. No longer the case here. Now you get to choose from a standard menu that has the run of the mill diner choices. On the plus side the food is cheap. Not much in taste. We had bacon, eggs, sausage patties, and pancakes with coffee. Not a lot of flavor. The syrup was syrup. Not maple just syrup. The deal breaker for me was the noise. If you wanted to have a conversation and be heard you needed to be just below shouting. This was my first and last trip to this place. With one waitress you can expect one cup of coffee since she has to take orders, serve orders and then breakdown the tables. If you like loud conversation, slow service, and lame choices for breakfast, this is the place for you.More
The owners/servers/cooks are all family (well, mostly) and bring good wholesome food to the table at a very reasonable price. Thanks, Liddle family!
This cafe is a friendly little place on Main Street with great taste in comfort food. It's ideal for a working lunch (take out) or with one other person on a comfort day, due to the tight proximity to others.
My daughter & I went for lunch here. They have a very basic menu. I ordered a fish sandwich, she ordered a tuna sandwich. My sandwich came with no tarter sauce, so I asked for some. The waitress didn't comeback for about 5 mins, so...I got up & went to the front counter. She said, "I was going to get that." I went back to the table & my sandwich was not tasty at all. My daughter said hers wasn't very good either. I later learned that my sister got sick after she ate here. I was not impressed. If they want to improve they need to have friendlier service & better food. The atmosphere was okay.More
A recent lunch was great! A friendly efficient server served an excellent seafood salad wrap. Delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely a place to try in Schoharie !
