We started out with soup: Wedding and Pasta Fagaoli. Wedding soup was very good. My soup had decent flavor, but was barely warm and then I suddenly realized I was chewing on a 1 inch square piece of plastic like a candy wrapper or something. It was gross, and I spit it out. Sent soup back. Included dinner salad was... More
The town I live in has more than four Italian restaurants, but Dominicks is worth the eighty mile round trip. The servings are generous, and the wither brought and packed our leftovers gleefully. They even have a "small plate" option for those who don't like left overs. And oh my, eggplant Parm was out of this world.
The best new addition to the menu is the 'small plates' option which is still an ample amount of food. I had the chicken alfredo which was just ok with barely any chicken in it. They had fantastic alfredo about 12 years ago, so I don't know what the change is. I don't like the dine-in experience; it always feels... More
The prime rib was tasty. The linguine with clam sauce delicious and loaded with clams. However, we never saw our waitress again after she brought our dinners. We sat for over 20 minutes after finishing with our entrees. Then she just showed up with the bill. Coffee??? Dessert??? Water??? We weren't even asked!!!!! We won't be back.
We stopped here for dinner hoping for an enjoyable meal. Our visit ended without ordering, nearly 1/2 hour after we were seated. My party, and those at two other tables were totally ignored by the wait staff and we weren't even offered a glad of water. I understand that at times, the restaurant business can be difficult to run and... More
I visited Dominicks a few days ago. We had the nicest waiter with a long Italian name. The red sauce is out of this world! He freely brought me extra sauce when I asked for it. I ordered a half portion and I had enough left over for 2 small meals at home.
Dominick's is a Syracuse landmark. It probably got that recognition many years ago. The food was OK. nothing special. The restaurant is old, rundown and worn out. Prices are economical. I think it's time they pass the "landmark" designation to another restaurant.
One Friday night another couple joined us for a get together. No reservation are taken, but we must have gotten there before a rush. The salads arrived in a large dish so it was easy to move ingredients around. It was fresh greens accompanied with tomatoes, onions and one hot pepper. Girls ordered fish, it was delicious, flaky and hot.... More
A group of four of us ate here last Sunday around 4:45 pm. The waitress seemed distracted and unorganized . I was interested in ordering fettucini carbonara . They did not have carbonara. (I am thinking a good Italian restaurant ought to know how to whip up a cream sauce). So, I got the Alfredo sauce and added parmesan from... More
