Such a cosy hotel with a great variety on the menu, so much so it was REALLY hard to choose. The food we had was better than you're average pub meal by far. Definitely recommend dining here.

Tuesday evening seeking a meal in a country pub. The bistro was packed......we had picked their "specials" night. All meals $16.50 We almost decamped elsewhere when a table for 4 was located It turned out to be a lovely evening with well prepared and enjoyable meals

This was the third place we looked at and we weren't expecting it to be such a find. The delightful Jacqueline warmly welcomed us, despite being very busy, and Tully the barman provided excellent wine knowledge. The menu initially didn't seem interesting and we felt it was designed for local tastes, but we finally found the Muscovy Duck with "cutlet... More

First time at this lovely hotel. It's tucked away behind the railway station, hence the name, and very welcoming. Lovely lunch with interstate friends. We all ordered seafood which was served beautifully in a lovely dining room type setting. Beers and wine were served at perfect temperatures and the waiting staff very professional. Thoroughly recommended and we will return.

Very disappointing experience. My friends' 'medium rare' steak was totally under cooked, the "hand cut fat chips" were in fact potato wedges (no real problem with that, but just call the damn things "wedges"), and the overall service was extremely slow - both with the wait staff attending to the tables, and also at the bar. Considering they charge almost... More

The food is carelessly prepared and I had to send mine back because it was undercooked The presentation is bad, service rough and ready and there is no realcare for service at all.

We visited for a New Year's Eve meal and drinks. The bar and wait staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and patient (thanks Lachy!). The food is excellent and portions are generous. The sparkling wine selection was limited, only a small drawback. Later on, very surprised and welcome to see the owner and some staff serving in the sister pub, The... More

Short walk from the town centre, well worth the effort and a must before leaving Castlemaine. Atmosphere A1, service A1 with a menu varied and interesting. Visited it twice during our stay.

Had a dining room meal here with my 2 year old and we loved it! It was a Saturday night so we booked, which I would recommend. Good selection of food options and local wines. Recommended.
