My favorite down home place to et. I've been eating here for years, and it never disappoints. The buffet style, and great food make the day.

We recently got stuck for a few days in Gastonia, NC d/t hurricane evacuation in FL. We noticed Grandma Hoyt's as we toured the area & decided to try it for dinner. We were sooo happy we did! Nothing fancy to be sure - but a 'charming' atmosphere. The "good ole home cookin" was a delight, & the price was... More

If you're looking for a down to earth, small town restaurant with dozens and dozens of meal choices right out on display buffet style, for you to help yourself at your own leisure.........this is the place. The food is freshly prepared every day and there are just so many entree choices.....Fried Chicken.....Country style ribs......Pork Chops...etc......tons of fresh COUNTRY Vegetables.......and one... The food presentation is not the best. There was dried up crust surrounding many of the dishes and there was dripped and mess around the bar. I don't particularly like buffets for this very reason so that was an instant turn off. Food was pretty greasy. Haven't been back. Parking lot is full most days..SMH don't people have a palate... We love this place! The food is always delicious and inexpensive, the wait staff is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is genuine. It's real southern food done well in a charming little restaurant.

I ate here one time before, had a good meal so a second visit was in order. Within minutes of leaving my stomach was burning and it just got worse driving home. I've had stomach pains for an entire week. There is no Grandma at this restaurant, and I wonder if they truly enjoy cooking here.

Eat lunch here on Sundays and if you leave hungry it's your own fault. Most all the food is very good and LOTS of selection. Very good value for the money. Eaten here many times and no bad experiences. Highly recommend.

The owner, Ed Hoyt, was very rude as usual. I got a salad of one scoop of lettuce, 4 slices of beets, a spoon full of tomatoes and he charged me $8.00. Whiskey Mill and Pizzagalli"s salads are less than that and they are enough for 2 meals. I will not spend another cent with Grandma Hoyt"s!

Went to Grandma Hoyt's today and it was a real treat. A throwback to a simpler time. Greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the door where we paid for the buffet. We were then told to make ourselves at home. We did and the food was very good. I have had really bad experiences at the chain buffet restaurants... More
