We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon when the weather was warm. Chapel Hill and Franklin Street was abuzz with an abundance of people strolling and enjoying the weather. Sugarland is housed in a historic building and it maintains that charm. Once inside, we were struck by the amazing selection of gelato, cupcakes, and a general assortment of baking. We... More

This has all the rage with cupcakes and sweet treats. The cake was disappointing but the gelato was quite good. I would not come back unless I was seeking out gelato. Too bad because it appeared to have much promise and hype.

We ordered the birthday cake for our little one, who became 1!! I mean, it was a very very special occasion ;-) due to the egg allergy of our daughter, we had a chat there with the manager of the shop and he told us, that they can bake EVERY cake eggless. Okay, we loved it and bought 4-5 cupcakes... More

The gelati was amazing! Most of us got that--different flavors--and a few of us got cake. Everything was delicious.

Fast, friendly service, and delicious gelato! $6.50 for a big cup of donatella. Cash and cards accepted. Highly recommend!

When I found out I could get more then just great gelato I was hooked. They also serve cupcakes, pastries, coffee, and special adult drinks. It's always fun to take the family out where everyone can get what they want.

The Gelato Martini will keep you coming back but he sweets are just as amazing. Try a specialty cupcake (Guinness, Creme brulee, cookie monster and many more) along with your martini. My favorite is the Nutty Irishman. (hazelnut gelato, irish cream and vodka)

I had parked at the planetarium and was headed to explore the UNC campus and headed down Franklin St. and passed by Sugarland. I was in need of something since it was so hot outside. I had a biscuit right before that and was saving my appetite for fried chicken later. So decided to go in and try a sweet... More

We stopped in for dessert. The place is really beautiful and you do feel like you are there for something special. We tried some gelato which was very good. It is rich and filling though - I recommend the small size. We also tried the beignets. They were freshly fried and covered in powdered sugar. Not too sweet. They were... More

I had a hazelnut martini and a chocolate cupcake with white icing. Both were ok, but not phenomenal. The shop itself is cute and the service was fast and friendly. I would stop again to try something different like the gelato.
