Il Palio is objectively one of the best expressions of genuine Italian cuisine in NC, period. Italian regional recipes are paired with great Italian wines, the quality of the ingredients and the wines is top level. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. We love to go to the themed dinners like the truffle ones and the ones with the wine... More

We came here for the special truffle dinner and it was wonderful- deserving of five stars. My husband's braised beef was one of the best beef dishes he's ever eaten. Other excellent offerings in the past have been their wood fired sea bass and sides. A year ago we were disappointed in their pasta dishes- the two we tried were... More

Visited for the first time last night. What a great experience! Highly recommend the Prosciutto de Parma and the crab Pici. The desserts were only good, which was a little disappointing after the stellar quality of the rest of the meal. Very pleased and will definitely return.

Best Italian restaurant in NC! Great menu, fresh local ingredients, warm service. Highly recommended. Plus, a good wine list. We loved it!

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was extremely well prepared, with many innovative touches. The chef was quite good and came by as we finished. I have eaten here many times over the past 10 years, and it always is excellent.

I chose Il Palio for our Thanksgiving meal this year, partly because they had added turkey to their choices for the entree in their Prix Fixe ($68) dinner. We arrived and were seated in a room where the tables had no tablecloths, runners, or placemats -- hardly the ambience one expects at a 4-diamond restaurant for a prix fixe dinner.... More

We've occasionally dined here over the past 20 years, including special events like a beer dinner, and have come to expect great food and good service. We recently returned especially for a fundraiser benefiting earthquake-ravaged areas of Italy. They were donating proceeds to charity and even cooking some regional specialties not on their regular menu. The quality of the food... More

The chef at Il Palio is inventive while honoring tradition. We have enjoyed this restaurant on several occasions, and consider it one of the most outstanding in Chapel Hill. The cuisine is Northern Italian with an American flair. On our most recent visit we enjoyed a roasted chestnut/duck soup, followed by splendid beef tournedos, finishing with a ginger gelato. For...
