The worst possible service I had ever gotten. The waiter was simply angry, slamming drinks on our table, not paying attention to our requests and responding to our questions with hostility. We were scared to ask for the check! That's no way to greet people...More

We really like to pop in here prior to shows or events uptown. Very good food, good value, a little on the high end, but always feels like value = price! Keep up the great service and great food!

My wife was wanting to eat at a restaurant that served lambchops and we found the perfect spot at a Spanish restaurant called Malabar located in the middle of downtown Charlotte across from the Discovery Museum. She loved her 3 lambchops with garbanzo beans. I...More

We visited this Uptown restaurant on a Saturday night. We enjoyed the modern decor and they had a nice tapas selection, although a bit overpriced. The tortilla espaNola was quite good, as was the spicy papas. The restaurant was not overcrowded (we did have reservations)....More

Absolutely wonderful tapas and paella. Octopus and skirt steak are both outstanding as is the meat paella. Great selection of Spanish wines. And in a very cool part of N. Tryon.

This restaurant has improved. We tried it when it first opened, were not very impressed, and did not come back for several years. We were pleasantly surprised to find the food had improved. We tried five small plates, potato&ham&cheese croquettes, calamari, sliced Serrano ham, churrasco,...More

I went solo wanting Paella and because I was single could not get it. - You have to commit to two servings. I had their sangria, cannelloni, and tiramisu, which were divine. This is a restaurant that I wish my wife could have joined me.

This is a nice place to stop into before going to the theater in uptown Charlotte. Share several different Spanish tapas dishes and enjoy the dining experience.

I also walked but I don't recall seeing a valet setup there. There is street parking a few blocks away on Mint St, Poplar St, Church St, and Trade St. (west of Church). Meters are active until 6pm.

Is there a dress code for dining?

No dress code - most of the clientele have tended to dress in business attire weekdays and anything from upscale to sharp casual on weekends. There are always exceptions and that's not a problem.
