Had dinner here prior to a show at the DPAC. The food is amazing. If you've never dined tapas-style, make sure you let your waiter explain the concept. The more people you have in your party, the more delicious plates you'll get to sample! Everything we tried was superb. The wine list is good. I highly recommend it for a... More

Really cool spot, old downtown Durham renovated with cool vibe. Ordered off the menu 3 dishes(three cheese sampler, Gampas, and roasted beets with whipped goat cheese) that were all excellent. Sat at the bar due to last minute planning and a show to catch and it was quick without asking. Staff were great and super friendly and attentive. Only screw... More

We had a group of 8 and tried to get seated at 530 on a Wednesday, but it was so packed that we could not get seated all together! Frustrating as it was a highly recommended place to visit!

Love coming here, have been 5 times and each time is better than the previous. The ham sampler is delicious, as are the croquetas, and make sure to try one of the many specials that they have each day. Solid service too, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food.

People have been raving about Mateo since it opened and I am embarrassed to say it took us years to get there. It is difficult to get a reservation because it is so popular. But finally we realized that we could grab a seat at the bar without a reservation and that strategy has worked well for us the two... More

First things first, if you happen to be around this area on Tuesday, be sure to stop by and have some Tapas plates. We didn't know this when we came in, but it is 2 for $10 tapas plates! Now to the food, we had 6 tapas plates total, and honestly we had a hard time ranking them in order... More

New to the area our friend mention this to us. We are so happy we came. The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and her recommendations were perfect. Do the ham tasting.

But be warned: they arrive quickly. We dropped by on a Wednesday evening about 7:30 with no reservation and ended up waiting about 15 minutes to get a table. The place was happy noisy. Hopping. The menu was very interesting and the tapas we ordered were tasty. They suggest 2 to 3 each. But there is no pacing. We ordered... More

Love is the essential ingredient in the food here. Hand crafted and well thought out tapas allow you to try a little bit if everything without committing to one meal. Great scene for a night out. Not quiet or romantic, but vibrant and yummy
