Local roasted coffee, friendly baristas, correctly pulled with good crema. Accommodated a puppuccino (for the puppy!) as well as our cappuccinos.

We came to Durham for Comicon weekend. Did a quick coffee shop search and ended up at Joe van Gogh. What a gem! The coffee is some of the best I have ever had! The service was supreme and the atmosphere is the best!

great coffee. Wifi was extremely patchy. Breakfast was spotty, pastries on a poorly displayed dish. Would only recommend for grab and go coffee.

Not only does JVG offer and serve great coffee, they also have the best coffee brewer in the world, The Chemex, which employs a laboratory paper filter in it's brewing process. Running JVG House Blend coffee through a Chemex delivers a truly great cup of coffee, first time, every time. Nothing can beat it in my opinion. I'm a regular... More

Coffee here rocks! Lots of coffee drinks... They just need affogato for dessert. The workers are very friendly and service is great. Love the idea of having the movie theater next door. This place is located is a nice and quiet mall in Chapel Hill.

Coffee was good, but service was a bit slow. Also, the place seems a little bit dirty, but it is a small coffee shop so its part of their charm i guess? Overall, what's important is the coffee, and it is delicious.

This is a great local place that always has a good feel to it. A wide range of patrons make this place lively and the baristas know their stuff. The actual beans are roasted beautifully providing excellent espresso or drip coffee.

I live in Seattle and spend a lot of time in Portland. Two cities that are known for specialty coffee. I am always on the look out for great coffee shops in my travels. Joe Van Gogh did not disappoint. I always try a macchiato first. There was simply delicious. I opted to try for an iced coffee. This is... More

Attentive barristas. In addition to great counter service for coffee specialties, they also serve a great range of hot teas and smoothies. It's also possible to purchase locally roasted coffee for brewing at home. Local artists present shows that rotate. Great mix of patrons--students from Duke and School of Math and Science along with neighborhood peeps. And they open before... More

I visited Joe van Gogh several times while in Durham in fall 2012. Very good coffee with some interesting pastries from Scratch Bakery downtown on offer here. (The dark chocolate crostata is something else.) Its small size does not naturally lend itself to working here for hours on end though the seats were all full each time I visited. Although... More
