We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the patio seating area. Their oysters were delicious. I had the macaroni with bacon which was very rich and gooey with a perfect crust. My husband had the steak frites which were cooked perfectly. Would definitely return when we are back in the area.

My husband and I had a nice date night at Vin Rouge on Sunday. We were able to sit on the front patio, which was quiet and lovely. Our server was friendly. We ordered 2 fish dishes, one of which was the special; he came back 5 minutes later to tell us they were out. This was pretty frustrating but... More

For some reason French cuisine never caught my attention. Well today I discovered I need to be more open minded. We had everything from scallops, salmon to filet. French onion soup was the best I've ever tasted. Service was wonderful and the food matched. The environment was very interesting and comfortable. Check out their menu and just GO.

We enjoy brunch, but usually settle for quantity instead of quality. This time we decided to move upscale for a special treat, and Vin Rouge provided just what we wanted. The atmosphere is authentic French "old, established, popular cafe", except that the wait staff is definitely American, not Parisian. Although not authentic French, service was outstanding. I had a Mimosa,... More

Small and noisy - crammed for the holidays. Parking is almost non-existent. But quality of food and wine makes up for all that. Wait staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. We love oysters so we're in heaven. Had two large appetizer plates and was more than enough. It's now our go-to place for a delicious dinner.

We were in town for a Duke BB Game and found this place on the internet. It was delightful in every way. Quaint French Bistro environment. Excellent bar and wine service. Really good French food. I enjoyed the sweetbreads appetizer and my wife loved the Butternut squash soup. The Mac and Cheese is outstanding (warning) the serving size will feed... More

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Vin Rouge. My girlfriend and I went for our Valentine's Day dinner this evening and not only was our food cold when it came out, we were ignored for over 30 minutes before we actually had to flag down a waiter to try and resolve the issue. We spoke with the manager... More

Experience authentic French cuisine in Durham, North Carolina. This was my first time at Vin Rouge but in family fashion was able to try several dishes all excellent. The wine list is extensive. The atmosphere is rustic country. The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. If you can't get to Paris, try the Vin Rouge. Reservation recommended.

It's true. The gratin de macaroni at Vin Rouge is a hole in one. I'm not generally a macaroni kind of guy. I tried it based on other reviewers' raves and I can say without question that the raves are well deserved. Perhaps the best analogy I can come up is this: if creme brulee were not a desert, it... Stumbled on this restaurant while looking for anything open on a snow day that wasn't McDonalds. French cuisine, excellent food, wine selection & service! Very much exceeded our expectation! Tried duck over greens with light vinegar eye-very flavorful & rich. Portion looked small but ended up being just right. Also tried the bacon mac & cheese-came out beautifully broiled &... More
