What is not to love. Authentic French cuisine and atmosphere. It can get a bit busy with the small, typically French, tables but it is all worth it.

I have been twice and both times excellent and fairly priced. Vin Rouge does feel like France. The decor, the attire of the staff, even the lighting and music. The place has some superb shellfish and even the dollar oysters are good and fresh. Standards like French Onion soup, Mussels and sweetbreads are perfectly and traditionally executed. Vin Rouge does... More

If you love a friendly, cozy, busy but comfortable ambience, check out Vin Rouge. This is Durham's go-to French bistro. Fun and excellent service; fabulous menu options; great desserts; and a wine list to hope to sample. We love Vin Rouge for brunch and dinner. NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!

Very good French restaurant with an excellent wine list. There is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating which is always a good thing.

We decided to splurge on a really nice dinner for our son's college graduation. We knew that it would be expensive, but we expect a lot more for a $65 per person fixed menu. The restaurant is very noisy and almost impossible to hold a conversation. I don't know what this restaurant is like on a non-graduation/mother's day weekend, but... More

We could only pick the three course prix fix option. Compared to Lantern and Panciuto the food was less creative and significantly more expensive. The service was just ok.

I had dinner here recently with my wife and several friends when in town for a wedding. We had a fantastic dinner all around - food, wine, service, ambience were all on point. From the shellfish towers and pate starting out, to soup and salad, and entrees and dessert it was delicous. Our server was warm as well as professional,... More

Vin Rouge is, in decor and menu, so reminiscent of France I found myself, while waiting for my meal, planning my next journey and being reminded of how wonderful French food is. The Vin Rouge menu has plenty of things to take you mentally to France, including mussels, steak frites and other classics. I had the mountain trout in browned... More

Due to a mixup in communication (ours), the reservation was cancelled. The Staff was very helpful and set us up anyway. A friendly bartender helped us with wine selection while we waited for our friends from out of town. An excellent meal for both of us - the Calf's liver was the best I've ever had. Our friends found us... More

The hostess that seated us was most unwelcoming and did not crack a smile the entire evening with any of the guests. The waiter was okay but very uninterested. Perhaps he was having a bad day, we thought. The mussels were good but my husband felt the portion could have been bigger. He is usually satisfied with portion sizes when... More
