I had dinner here with a friend and was seated quickly. The service was good but I thought the food quality was low. I ordered the salmon and found it dry. It tasted more like some frozen fish that they had prepared instead of fresh fish. I was under the impression that the seafood would be fresher at the beach.... More

Visited with family - they quickly seated the 7 of us, and the service was excellent. The menu selections were standard beach/seafood fare. I ordered the PoBoy sandwich, which came with either fried oysters or shrimp. It was great, with lots of shrimp and a delicious sauce. We enjoyed peel and eat shrimp as well as calamari after a day of hiking the Hermit's trail. It was tasty and timely, but quite pricey. Service was excellent. Parking was decent as it was Spring Break,

We had lunch here and it was okay, but compared to other restaurants nearby, it wasn't the best. The indoor seating is dim, and because their deck has two stories, the bottom level is shaded -- and the day we went, the upper level was closed so we couldn't enjoy the sunshine. Our server seemed inexperienced and was waaaaay overly-anxious/attentive... More

Outside lower level seating gives you a view of the street and the one traffic light in Kure Beach, but it is walking distance to the pier and the beach. Had Smokehouse sandwich and Calypso wings. No GF options really, but decent portions for the price. No GF beer to go with the wings :-( If the upper deck is... More

After visiting the Fort Fisher Museum, we found ourselves at Jack Mackerel's for lunch. Let's start by saying you are in an area where the shrimp are plentiful so have some of the shrimp! The portions were substantial and very good. We enjoyed a variety of dishes between the four of us and everyone was done just right and good.... More
