We have passed by for years, but finally stopped by recently for late lunch. Not a huge selection of items, but sufficient. Everything we had was fantastic. If you like eastern NC BBQ (vinegar based), you will not find better. The fried chicken is outstanding....One of our family loves fried chicken livers (not me) that were available as a daily special, and said they were great. The sides were all “comfort” sides prepared and seasoned perfectly. The rolls and hush puppies were great. Portions are substantial. We could have eaten a basket full. The service was great, although not crowded during our visit. Not a large place, so may be a much different experience during the summer when OBX traffic is heavy on Saturday and Sunday. We live less than 30 minutes away, so now that we have tried it, we are sure to returnMore

Home Style Food at its Best !!

Well, where do we begin. Great done to earth home style cooking with good old fashioned service. We loved the fried chicken and the side orders that came along with it. Its an easy ride from the OBX area and sure to not disappoint.

Chicken

The juiciest chicken breast I have ever had!! Was traveling and stopped due to trip advisor reviews...they did not disappoint! Staff were very friendly as well!

Good

Went for breakfast as we travelled home from OBX. They had just reopened for breakfast that same day so things were a little confusing but that was understandable getting use to all the COVID rules etc. Had the breakfast BLT with cheese. Bacon was crispy...as requested. Rye bread was very good. Wait staff was friendly. Prices super reasonable. Plenty of parking.More

Cozy Place! Great Homestyle Food

Service is great and friendly. While not a large selection the buffet is full of homestyle food. Their Hatteras clam chowder is so good! Hubby always purchases sweet potato biscuits to take home. We already have reservations for Thanksgiving 😀

Best Southern brunch!

Glad we found out this hidden gem on our way back to MD from OBX. My family was craving for authentic southern style food which this place has in abundance! Awesome buffet, kids enjoyed every bit of it and my whole family had smiles all...over! Thank you Southland for this great service!More

Sunday buffet

I had the chance to visit the buffet on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good and the service was friendly. The buffet was in a back room and felt crowded at times. I will come back with the family. We were in and out...in about 30 minutes.More

Best Fried Chicken Around!

Because of the sign outside that says "best fried chicken", we decided to stop here for a late lunch and try it. I ordered the chicken tenders and my husband had the fried chicken and bbq. I have to say it truly was the best...fried chicken we ever ate. The breading was delicious and everything was fresh. Our waitress, Heather was friendly and attentive and did tell us that each platter is made fresh. We will be back again for this delicious chicken.More

Breakfest

Excellent buffet at a reasonable charge

Ordered the dinner buffet here one weeknight as recommended by a friend. Was very much pleasantly surprised. Buffet was hot and fresh and kept well stocked. Fried chicken delicious. Bbq was okay. Best things on buffet were the fresh sides and vegetables! Homemade mashed potatoes,...squash zucchini, cabbage, beans, corn on the cob. Many desserts on buffet to include banana pudding, chocolate cake, peach cobbler. All this in addition to a salad bar and fruit selections. Buffet price of about $10 includes all these. Does not include drinks. Staff folks were very nice and attentive. Plenty of comfortable table seating inside. Plenty of free parking. Definitely worth a stop. Great locals place for Nc and Virginia folks.More
