I had a late lunch by myself on Saturday afternoon. Interesting menu, but the execution needs some work. I had the tuna poke (good, but needed salt) and the pork dumplings (nice flavor, but too greasy.) Service was attentive.

It serves me right. I should've read the reviews before going. It's a pretty restaurant, well appointed but also well over priced. I had what was a very poor imitation of Vietnamese Pho In any Vietnamese restaurant it would cost between seven and nine dollars...More

Went with my husband and kids for Father's Day. Made reservations as there was a party of 7. Glad we did because it was packed. It's a $25 buffet brunch that they have on Sunday's. Judging by the crowd it's quite popular. There's valet parking,...More

Went to Buku for lunch and had a great time. The service was friendly and helpful. Cuisine is international with small and large plates. I had empanadas and an Asian-inspired crab dish. Both were excellent. Others in my party had vegetarian dishes and one had...More

This place may be good at other times, our visit was overpriced and mediocre. Went with a friend I was in town visiting. Portions are insanely small and very pricey. We left and went to ANOTHER restaurant to eat more. I'll give them another shot,...More

The food here has stayed remarkably inconsistent- you would expect that because of the concept of tackling so many cultural cuisines. It does a few of them well: we have always liked the hot pot. We come back here twice a year to order it....More

Got the samosa pot pie and there wasn't even any Samosa in it. The dish had no real taste and to make matters worse i found a small stone in it and had to spit it out. Got a non-alcoholic beer and it tasted bitter...More

We had high hopes for this restaurant since we love international cuisine and trying new foods. They have a gluten free menu which is nice but after asking the waiter about some of the gluten free options on that menu, I ordered a salad and...More

We have dined at Buku many times over the years. This visit was disappointing. We requested a booth but were seated in a very small table near the restroom entrance. Our server was friendly but did not seem to understand the menu. I ordered the...More

Located at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets in the heart of downtown Raleigh, bu•ku is a local restaurant that tells a global story. The name "bu•ku" itself is an international slang twist on the phrase, "Merci, beaucoup" meaning, "Thank you very much." Inspired by the pushcarts of street vendors across the globe, our chefs harvest an array of unique and distinct flavors and present them authentically, in a virtual kaleidoscope of plates. The common link: these are foods that people love. Working within different regional traditions, our menu brings together complex and flavorful dishes that have been honed over generations. Foods like Polish pierogis, Colombian arepas, and Thai barbecue prawns served in a banana leaf with green papaya salad can be found on the street corners of Warsaw, Bogota, and Bangkok. We strive to convey the immediate thrill a traveler feels eating foods like these as they first cross over the cart and exchange hands into the urban setting.
