We were greeted by a lovely lady who welcomed us with open arms, as we waited to be served at the bar (before the restrictions for table service only). We got chatting to a couple of locals who again were a brilliant chat too. We...reserved a table and there we stayed for a good portion of the day, the tables were nicely spaced out and you felt very safe. Drinks were flowing and we even decided to have a bit of grub too. Our waitress was very attentive and looked after us very well. Food was good, shame about the cheap french fries though that went with every meal. We even met the landlord! Seemed at first quite a nice chap, got chatting away to him, bought him a drink and he was telling us about what he use to do before coming a public landlord. We as a group were unsure what would be happening with new restrictions implemented by the government so we started asking the landlord what we should do when it all started the next day. This is where he said to us he was unsure on what to do. After having what we thought was quite an honest and genuine conversation about what might the best way forward, we had seemed to upset the landlord and we got told to finish our drinks and were then asked to leave the premises. Baffled and bewildered and a little disheartened we granted his wishes and left with no fuss. After that we will not be returning. Thank you to the staff that looked after us on that day, you are a credit to the village.More

Food was ok pub food, long wait just to get in. Very friendly Barmaid, but she was obviously completely overstretched on her own. The reason for 1 star was the total disregard for the new covid rules. As you walked into the bar there were...tables filled with 8 people all together when there should only be 6. One of the women was sitting directly next to the passageway you have to pass through to enter the rest of the pub so there was no way to observe social distancing. Even worse, when we left there were then more people in the group standing around which took the numbers to 11 or 12. Completely breaking the law and risking lives. Avoid.More

First time I had eaten inside a pub/restaurant since onset of Covid. Exemplary sanitising and social distancing. There was a good regular menu of pub grub. I chose à pork tenderloin dish from the specials menu. It was excellent with caramelised sliced potatoes, and a...delicious and generous amount of sauce. Far superior to the average pub offering. All the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked very appetising, especially the fries! Tables were well spread out and there was a lovely spacious garden too.More

We had an evening meal here last week and were very impressed with everything to be honest. We have 2 young children and sat in the garden which was spacious and pleasant. Service was brilliant, staff were happy and friendly, food was easy to order...and the inside set up was mindful of social distancing. We both had steak which was cooked perfectly; chips and all the trimmings were lovely. Both kids meals were tasty, nicely presented, nutritious. Good portion sizes also. The sticky toffee pud was delicious. Apart from a few pesky wasps (we did choose to sit outside) couldn’t fault it!More

WE are dog friendly inside and outside. We do request that dogs do not go in the flower beds. There is no dress code. Booking is recommended.
