A drive around the Cabot Trail would not be complete without a stop at La Boulangerie Aucoin Bakery. Based on the crowded parking lot it seems many already know this local gem. And the car licence plates show that it's just not the locals either. Walking into the shop you're hit with an amazing aroma of all the baking going... More

We bought the apple and blueberry turnovers. Just excellent. Fresh and very tasty as you would expect. Highly recommended. Didn't give it five stars only because we only tried the turnovers.

We stopped here and purchased some everything-bagels, a chicken & pork meat pie, and some date squares. The date squares were delicious and hubby was pleased with his bagels for breakfast. The meat pie lasted us (2 adults) for 2 nights for dinner, along with a salad. The meat pie is basically shredded meat within a biscuit type pie crust.... More

On our early morning trip to Cape Breton we passed this bakery, and turned back around to get something for later in the day. We had just had breakfast but the croissants had just come out of the oven so we got 2 of those as well as a couple of cranberry scones and a cinnamon roll. All were fabulous... More

Stopped in for some of the freshest baked goods in Cape Breton. Excellent breads, muffins and cookies. The location is very close to the entrance of the Cape Breton National Park. On your left... Keep an eye open for the sign. Well worth the stop.

Thought we would stop by for breakfast only to find there was no room to eat in so we bought some pastries to take out. Bought the chocolate banana loaf and it was excellent. Also got some oat cakes and enjoyed these as well. Went back to get their beef pie and chicken pie for lunch. It was too bad... More

It's small and obscure to find, but packs a punch. We heard about it from a restaurant owner in Halifax and advised to watch for it as the next step of our trip was Cape Breton. He was right, we purchased some baked goods on our way into the National park and the products were amazing. My wife which is... More

We stopped in to pick up some treats to have with coffee for breakfast. Large variety to chose from. There is something very special about baked goods that are just a few hours old. Wish my hometown had a bakery this good because I would definitely be a regular. They also make a few types of sandwiches for those heading... More

We had heard they had good butterscotch pie, but they didn't have any individual slices when we got there. So we split a large cinnamon bun as an after-lunch dessert today, and ate it at the picnic tables just to the right of the store. It was all we could do not to go in and order another one. (At... Returning from a visit in Cape Breton the kids wanted a snack and to be honest I was ready for one too. I had ice cream on the brain but when I saw the sign for a bakery I had to stop and glad I did. You know it might be good when people and coming and going. There was... More
