Our B&B host in Port Hood directed us to this local hot spot in Mabou, and advised us that there was live music between 5 and 7 p.m. We had an excellent seafood dinner served by a very friendly waitress (she was from B.C. and...More

We visited the Red Shoe again this year, but were disappointed to find the quality of the food had gone downhill badly! I had mussels in love, and the broth was thick and sticky like gravy, not thin and lovely as a white wine broth...More

We went for the music, which was pretty good. The spinach and Caesar salads were very good, also the naan and hummus. Fish & chips were just ok. Service was great and very accommodating. Crowd is friendly, cocktails available are limited but they make an...More

Stopped in with friends on our trip around the island. Unfortunately we were too early for the music, but the dinner was delicious and service excellent. Looking forward to returning next time I am in Cape Breton and will plan it better as to hear...More

Visited for dinner in July last summer. The food was underwhelming and a bit expensive for the area and the return. This place is famous for it's live music so if you are planning to eat here make sure that there is a live performance,...More

I found this place by accident, hearing some foot stopmin music (fiddle and piano) on a Sunday evening. It's mostly a local crowd, but also with a handful of tourists that are heartily welcomed. The crowd joins in with singing, dancing, and added musicians. The...More

I don't believe they take reservations. When there's music, I'd suggest you arrive an hour before the performance begins because the main room fills up quickly. The Red Shoe also has a nice covered patio area where you can... More

We stumbled accross this place this past Saturday, which was the day after it had opened for the season. They are only open from June until October. It is very quaint, and it has the very best seafood chowder of anyplace we found in Nova Scotia or PEI. The waiter was super nice to our group, and honest in admitting he had only started the day before, and hadn't tried all the items on the menu yet. He went back to the chef on a couple of occasions to ask if he could change a menu item for us (which they did), and was very attentive to our lunchtime needs. This is a really good restaurant and should be added to Trip Advisor. Thanks, John Ward Smith
