A community stable, consistently good food. Try the chowder and baked goods. Good service, and a well rounded menu.

Lovely small busy restaurant. Lots of older people enjoying the daily special , beef stew. Happy atmosphere. Friendly people and great service.

Our recent meal at the Chowder House was pretty uneven. The seafood chowder was right up there with any I've tried and that has been numerous. However my friend said her BLT was the worst she had ever had, characterized by really dry toast and green tomato! I often wonder why anyone would serve something like that? I had the... More

Excellent service. The kitchen served a turkey dinner, mashed and gravy with carrot, beans,& turnip. With cranberry & green tomato pickles. Hot roll. Desert was a choice of pumpkin pie or mincemeat pie. The mincemeat was excellent. The crust was some of the best I have ever eaten. I was going to take the pie out but decided to sample a... More

Rich creamy seafood chowder with plenty of chunks of fresh fish and seafood. We followed the chowder with the Fish and Chips, Haddock Burger and Baked Haddock, and all main dishes were also very good. It is plain but comfortable, and great for a casual meal on the road.

It was rainy and cold when we drove through Tatamagouche and saw signs for the Chowder House Cafe. Sounded like a great idea with the conditions. Seating was very limited but we had to wait just 5 minutes or so for a table. It's a friendly place so don't be surprised it someone asks to join you at your table.... More

We stopped into this little "Chowder House" in mid-afternoon and found a great little place to enjoy one of the best Chowders we experienced on our eastern Canadian trip. The service is excellent, the portions generous and everything was very clean. Don't pass this one by.

I had nicely cooked salmon and fresh vegetables along with local craft beer. Service was thoughtful and not too rushed. Not gourmet food but I wasn't disappointed in my meal at all.
