My dad and I recently visited Charlene's just before Easter. We were looking for takeout and we're going to get Vi's for the last time but it was much too busy. We got a great turkey dinner and a chowder to go. Desserts look amazing. The waitress was so accommodating and got us the turkey dinner even when it wasn't... More

My husband and I both had the seafood chowder . Delish! And chock full of seafood. Best seafood chowder we have ever had, including my own. Friendly staff. Good service. Would definitely go again when in the area.

We first stopped at another place a few miles down the road and the service was laughably poor so we carried on to Charlene's. Just a quick bite, but it was great. Burger, chowder and a piece of pie. Eat here!

We went there so I could have the famous chowder. Overall, I was disappointed. I like my chowder to have some creaminess to it, which this did not -- OK, that is a matter of personal taste. But there was supposed to be seven different kinds of seafood in the chowder. I had a large hunk of haddock, a very... More

Was recommended to try here, so we did. Charlene the owner actually seated us and chatted, a lovely woman. I had the chowder which was good, but we waited for 45 minutes for our food while others who came in after us were all getting served?? I'm not sure why...service was very slow...waitresses seemed overwhelmed at times. Next time I... More

We had the chowder and Caesar salad. LOTS of seafood - great taste! Definitely a great choice! Charlene and staff were very friendly and gave lots of tips for exploring Cape Breton as well!

There were 3 people in our group. One ordered the toasted western ( best ever), the second ordered the daily Cold Plate special with 2 scoops of potato salad, cole slaw and marinated carrots. The meats were ham and turkey. I had the seafood chowder which was really good as well. The restaurant is basic, but the food is worth... More
