Very quirky location, design and interior. Good food and attentive service. Well worth a visit when you are in Teotihuacan.

This place is unique and one-off its kind. Located in a very big cave and serving food for over a 100 years, it is the most visited place near Teotihuacan. Food is good, but not that highly differentiated, you find similar plates in other places...nearby, however quality is very good. Service its outstanding and fast. Slightly overpriced due to the amazing location.More
The number one feature about La Gruta is its setting in a huge cave. We were really astounded by this, and the beautiful candlelit end of the cave, which we added some light of our own to. The food was the side show really for...us - though certainly not bad, and we had a lovely and thoroughly unforgettable time here with our family and friends after visiting the pyramids. The restaurant charged us twice for the meal but we were really reassured to see that they just reimbursed the extra cost, without us even requesting. Very honest and perfectly happy with the service. In the UK we would never find such a specular place to eat, and if one existed, we would have to wait six months to get a table reservation. Highly recommended. Very well organised too.More
It is in a cave and that carries a lot of mystical and historic beliefs with the local population - that is the best part of the charm. And, the food is good, which is a great benefit. Usually, at very touristic locations, the restaurants...have the location and the food is second rate. Not here. It is not high cuisine, but it is good. We loved the atmosphere, we loved the charm. And it does provide a cool spot in the heat. The food is a typical local cuisine, but done well. Prices are what you would expect from a place like this - not too high, not too low. TravelDad.world definitely recommends this restaurant when visiting the pyramids.More
The food was very tasty, smaller portions but full of seasoning along with handmade tortillas. They bring a tiny serving of tortilla chips along with a few traditional salsas. The service was mediocre because you do not get a single waiter assigned to you. one waiter...did drinks, another did chips and salsa and a different one brought the main course. We asked for more drinks but they had to be brought by a specific waiter. We asked for the check and once again a different person came since I was paying using a credit card. A bit pricey but you are paying for the experience.More
The location is lovely and the atmosphere was great! However, the food was not tasty with not much flavour. Would only recommend for the service and atmosphere.
They don’t allow you enter until your group is complete at the entrance no matter if you are exhausted, pregnant and under the sun at 30C degrees. In case you don’t finish your plate and want it to go you must expect a rotund NO...as response because of some not explained policy, No matter if you have paid for your food, no matter if isn’t touched the response is NO. Horrible horrible horrible service, don’t go!!!!More
The ambiance is outstanding, but the food at best was mediocre. We were here for hours due to the extremely slow service. I thought they'd be eager to turn the tables due to the difficulty getting a reservation, but there was clearly no sense of...urgency. We were literally in the restaurant for over 3 hours! The food was okay. The homemade tortillas were very good. Our waiter was very nice, but we did not frequently see him which contributed to the long delays between each stage of the meal. I would still recommend for the experience, but don't have high expectations for the food and service.More
This is a restaurant in a cave across from the pyramids, and is well worth seeking out. After walking around in the sun and heat, the cave was fantastic! Food and drinks were good, but the location is the real draw. It's lovely!
The food was fantastic. We had 3 different traditional meals. Each one had huge portions but more importantly the food was authentic and delicious
The setting is amazing. You eat in a large cave. The food was very interesting but not wonderful. The service was adequate but not attentive. This is particularly notable because we have had wonderful service in so many other restaurants. Many of the dishes are...made with authentic ancient ingredients.More
Bring a sweater - it can be a little cool! A great experience to eat lunch in cave after visiting Teotihuacan. We ate so many delicious appetizers all I ended up eating was Chicken Tortilla soup. Highly recommend - especially in such a tourist dense...location - for something unique and different.More
La Gruta is located next to the Teotihuacán piramids. The place is a total tourist trap and not worth your visit. The service was good but the food was pretty bad. Prices were high but where not a surprise for its location. We would definitely...not recommend nor will we return.More
This place is a must for experience only. How they created a restaurant in the caves is amazing. Also the lighting ceremony to offer the "god" was a unique experience. Though it was pretty Smokey. The food was ok, ordered the cactus salad and It...was even better with the barbacoa. Wrapped in banana leaf the meat was juicy and tender. The Mexican platter was meh the flavors for me weren't all there. But obviously just my opinion. Nonetheless, I recommend going here to experience it at least once in your life.More
I would not miss this beautiful restaurant. Absolutely unique restaurant dated from 1906 in an undergrounds grotto. Nice drinks and food options. No phone coverage down but they have wifi
