Jan 30 - Large poblano pepper stuffed with shredded chicken and covered in mole...they just called it a chicken relleno and didn't mention the best part - the mole! No cheese, awesome flavor. I think everything comes with rice and beas as a side - not huge amount of beans but great flavor but the star here is the flavor... More

Imelda's was the best food we had in Akumal. Just the thing after a day snorkeling with the tortugas or lounging on the beach. Definitely recommend the lunch special.

I have been a fan of Imelda's for many years. On this year's trip, our first experience at Imelda's new location, we ordered lunches to go on two occasions and were dismayed that the service was so poor. The food was great, but the wait -- over an hour -- for five entres was very disappointing. When we finally got... More

Imeldas moved across the plaza. Check out the new Imeldas, which is nice and bright, you can now sit under an open air roof, and have a little more view. Rather than being under the shade trees, behind the Turtle Conservatory, and Dive Shop, she is now over near where Lucys used to be. Check it out, same great inexpensive... More

Nothing makes me happier than an authentic Mexican breakfast! We enjoyed Imelda and her breakfast so much our first day in Akumal that we returned our second and last day. Something about the scrambled eggs, in that she gets the ham just slightly crunchy and then adds the cheese to the eggs. Wrap up that combo with some pureed black... More

Went to seim with the turtles today and did not pack a lunch. We hope there were beach cantinas. I walked back to the shopping area before the beach to look for a small local place. I found it! Imelda,'s La Cocina! Good price, p!entry of food and very tasty mole indeed! You',ll find LaCovina to the left as you... More

Right behind the turtle museum and Akumal bay beach, the thatched roof room is not hard to miss, as it is on the way to the beach famous for sea turtles. They are moving the ecocina to the middle of akumal town soon, around the basetball court. We went to Imelda's several times in our stay in the town, and... More

We only went to Imelda's for breakfast, and it was very tasty. We had French Toast, Heuvos con Chorizo and Omelette con Jamon y queso. They were all very good. The entire place is very quaint and sweet. The server was kind and even brought a sample of juice to for us to try at no charge, because they were... More
