Really quite an amazing place for a treat - I cannot fault this place in any area, and it really shines. Atmosphere is lovely, as is décor; nice and understated decorations and nick-nacks everywhere, and just-right lighting. Layout gave diners space and privacy, and deadened...More

What a disappointment! The second time we have eaten at this restaurant and as with the first visit the food was absolutely superb. However our table of four had the tasting menu. which should be a relaxed and slow amble through many courses. Food and...More

My wife and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary here. We are both utterly speechless. We chose the taster menu with 'wine flight'. I was astounded at the use of texture, and flavour combination of each dish. The menu was well paced, each one setting...More

How has this place not received a Michelin Star? The quality of the service is unbelievable and the food is crazily good.

It's weird, I responded to a question by another user and instead it posted it as my question. God bless TA.

Description
An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old Amersham, the Artichoke restaurant has been tipped for the top by critics, chefs (including Raymond Blanc) and, rather impressively, the Michelin Guide 2011. The traditional setting of Artichoke has been given new life with a slick contemporary country makeover in which comfort and style sit side by side, colours are muted and soothing and the beautiful features of the building are allowed to shine through, a part of the carefully considered dcor. Chef and owner Laurie Gear oversees a refined modern European menu filled with charming additions including not only seasonal ingredients but foraged herbs, berries and flowers too and he and his team can be spotted hard at work in the open kitchen from the Kitchen Dining Room. Other spaces here at Artichoke include the glorious Garden Dining Room, opening out on to the bespoke herb wall and the Wine Room up on the first floor, leading in to the well stocked cellar and just right for sophisticated business dining. The perfect neighbourhood restaurant, Artichoke has certainly put Amersham on the map.
