Used to come here as a young lad with my Dad and it was always a good pub but the food tonight was 🔥 I had the steak, which is not a norm for me so it has to be good and I was no...disappointed! From the initial welcome right through to leaving and my step son being shown how they make fresh pizzas and use thr pizza oven I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Eve and the team offer a real personal service, you will enter a customer and leave as a friend. PS......the Crunchie cheesecake was amazing 🙂 Will be returning many more timesMore

Booked in for a birthday meal with a close friend, not been here for a number of years. The front of house staff were pleasant and polite. We were offered a drinks menu but when I explained I don't drink was told they could make non-alcoholic...versions of a cocktail if I wanted or that they did Italian sodas with some lovely flavoured cordials. We both had the home made pie's the shin of beef and the vegetarian broccoli leek and Stilton, both were spectacular. We then both had a dessert, sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Will definitely be back soon I hope and bring family with me next time.More

I was lucky enough to get an 8pm table at The Red Lion on Wednesday night using the online booking system just the day before, as we had planned to eat somewhere else but they had cancelled our booking. The Red Lion did not disappoint...and was by no means 'sloppy seconds'!! We had the garlic mushrooms to start, followed by the beef brisket burger and bistro rump steak, and the cheesecake and brownie. All of the food was hot and beautifully cooked. My steak was perfectly medium rare, as I asked, and the chips were spot on. There is also a cocktail menu which is a bonus! The staff were friendly and food arrived in good time - we had our starter within 15 minutes and our main about 15 more minutes later.More

As a family we have been to the red lion multiple times, we have been for steak night; burger night, pie night, even on normal weekends and we have always rated the food quality and taste has always been fantastic. However we were slightly disappointed...on Father’s Day, we did not feel the quality of meat was up to standards, my mum order the meat and potato pie and it was beef mince instead of chunks of beef which was disappointing. My partners burger was finished in two mouthfuls, normally on burger night we have to cut the burgers in two because of how big and monster like they are so that was slightly disappointing. I also felt on my roast beef dinner the beef, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were dry. These are very minor issues but combined it had a negative effect because we have had such brilliant meals in the past, we just hope the standards are not slipping.More

Excellent Sunday Roast made better by the addition of some specials. The food was fantastic and the service was great too. They made no fuss at all when we needed to change a kids roast (as it had gravy on it which the child isn't...keen on) and also when we asked for the ice cream to have the cream removed (think this should be specified on the menu as we has expected just ice cream). Don't search anywhere else as this is the place to eat. Great food and service.More

Well first post lockdown meal out. Four of us went to the Red Lion to celebrate some missed birthday meals out. It was excellent and the Red Lion staff were very accommodating the food was tasty and well presented from an exciting menu. Decent pint...of Doom Bar (but don’t see why with the brewing capital of Burton just down the road why we need to bring Beer up from Cornwall) Only one small comment the mushy peas with my pie were not mushy they were puréed in the smallest ramekin dish I’ve ever seen, I’d much prefer a decent portion of normal (not minted) “mushy” peas. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going again soon.More

Consistency is key and The Red Lion never fails to be consistent,.their food is always exceptional. We live 25 minutes away but ordering an online takeaway is made simple, food is always ready for your time slot, staff always polite and helpful, and though we...have to drive 25 minutes to eat at home the food is still nice and hot😊The taste(of all the pies, we've tried them all!!) is amazing. Cannot wait for the restaurant to open, only difficulty is what to choose as everything is delicious. Thank you, see you soon😊More

Absolutely delicious takeaway once again. We have tried lots of different meals from the menu over lockdown and every meal has been lovely. All the food is presented nice and is piping hot when we get home. COVID safe collection, definitely recommend.
