We visited Willington Hall for a Christmas Evening. Dinner was passable, lack lustre, the service wasn't brilliant not much effort to be helpful or pleasant from the staff, had to serve our own wine, as ladies this was uncomfortable. To give a flavour the crackers on the table were the cheapest possible. Shame, lovely building which lends itself to Christmas,... More

Reading other reviews it would seem that the grounds are a great draw (especially for weddings). However visiting the hotel and restaurant on a winter's night was a depressing experience. The decor is terribly out of date and in poor taste and the whole place is dowdy and dull and does not provide a warm welcome. Everything is dark green... More

Dear Joy070, Thank you for taking the time to review us. I'm sorry that the experience wasn't the best. We have recently undergone some refurbishment so if you would like to try us again please do. I would suggest during the daytime so that you can really enjoy the grounds as well. More

Excellent meal cooked to perfection in this wonderful country location. The bar in itself was comfortable and inviting with friendly, attentive and proffesional staff. Our view in the Gainsborough Restaurant was wonderful, overlooking the gardens and Welsh hills. As regards the food I decided to have scallops for my starter, which was really tasty. Then onto the main, where we all ate Chateaubriand. It was cooked as requested and... We had a really lovely lunch. Beautifully cooked and presented. My dietary requirements were also taken seriously. The chef even came out to see us and check that we were happy with the food. The staff were very busy as a wedding party was expected, however they gave us the best attention and service. Lovely food, lovely staff and lovely... More

Had a meal a week ago and was ill for three days...ordered co qua vin, it was basically 3 drumsticks floating around in coloured, tasteless water, worst meal ever.. Sorry won't be coming back. Would have complained but we were taken out and I didn't want to cause a scene.

Sunday lunch is great at Willington Hall. So when my relatives came to stay from Florida we thought they would love the character and charm of the old building, and they did. The same could not be said for the food on a Friday evening in the restaurant. There was a function on in the function suite and obviously the... More
