Good pub food, warm and friendly staff. Nice fire going on a Thursday afternoon, sometimes Yorkshire pubs have been chilly mid week, but not this one. As well as bar food, there is a really nice section to get takeaway coffee, soup and cakes. We had an amazing slice of bakewell tart, prices are really reasonable. Perfect for walkers, dogs... More

The welcome was very friendly from both staff and customers and immediately felt comfortable. Ales were in excellent condition though a dark one would have been nice. The food was great and Landlady 's Pastry on steak pie was incredible. Great little pub 😊

We called after dropping our daughter off for a long weekend with relatives, horrible cold day instantly made better upon entering the pub with the log burner roaring away, dog friendly so we all sat on the comfy sofas next to the burner, ordered food, didn't have to wait long and when it arrived it was delicious and plentiful, can't wait to call again

Whilst on holiday in the UK my wife and I decided to book an overnight stay in the countryside of North Yorkshire for a private getaway. We drove for about 2 hours into wilderness, eventually finding this place and staying the night. We had such a warm welcome by the owner and her son, and had a wonderful stay. On... More

I have driven past this Pub many times and have been put off from calling in due to the apparent lack of car parking. However on this occasion we arrived from the direction of Kirby Stephen and discovered at the rear of the premises is a decent sized car park. We arrived late afternoon and having ascertained food is served... More

Friendly staff. Good beer. Tremendous home-made steak pie, followed by excellent black currant crumble. Highly recommended. Can't wait to return.

Arrived late Sunday afternoon. The Inn is clean and recently refurbished. Owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming but I am guessing are new to the trade. The local real ales are fantastic and well kept. The pub food is basic fare but the portion sizes are good. There were no other potatoes except 'roasties', but they were deep... More

Home cooked English pub meals. One of very few where you can have proper sit down and warm & tasty meal. There are lots of comfortable chairs to choose from, too.
