This place was recommended to us by the place we were staying and it didn't disappoint. Even the drive here across one of the country estates was lovely. We had booked, and in fact following a fab meal we re-booked for the next night. Both evenings we received a friendly welcome. The food is above average for pub grub which... More

From the outside this looks like a typical pub but inside the food is superb, with a great range of dishes which are superbly presented and good value We had duck and fish and the symphony of desserts Bass beer was also well kept Not sure if families are advised given the fruitful language of some of the locals at... Four of us met for lunch here today. We have visited several times and returned again as we always have good service and lovely food. The choice of meals on offer is excellent and several notches above the usual pub grub. We all chose different meals and desserts and were all impressed with our choices. The lady who served us... We are so jealous of our friends who have this great pub in their village. We have stayed here 4 times now when visiting the area and are always so pleased to return. We always have dinner in the restaurant and we are never disappointed. My husband had the liver last evening and pronounced that it was the best ever.... More

Arrived early evening so the restaurant was pretty quiet, but the bar was obviously popular with the locals (always a good sign). The food was very good, and the staff friendly and efficient.

Very happy with this. Went to Alton Towers for my birthday and were staying in this hotel, so wanted a nice easy meal to round the day off. Couldn't have done better than here so was delighted. The menu was fantastic: we wanted most things on it! We both went for the duck main course: it was cooked beautifully. Shared... More

Very friendly welcome, helpful and friendly staff and great service, nothing too much trouble. Food in the restaurant lovely and very reasonably priced. My gluten free diet was catered for without fuss and with loads of options - something I'm not used to! The breakfast was so good and was included in the price, set us up for the day.

My friend and I stayed for two nights recently. Our room was comfortable and clean. We had evening meal on the first night - food was home cooked, delicious and plentiful portions. Breakfast was just as delicious - the full English was excellent and also a good selection of cereals and fruit. Staff were friendly and helpful. I felt for... More

Staying at the Hotel for a night with my wife we decided to dine in. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. I had a lovely lamb steak with chunky chips and a caramelized onion garnish which was delicious. The Bass on draught was also rather good.Breakfast too the following morning clearly used quality ingredients and set... More
