A good spot to rest and enjoy good food in modern clean bright interior and recover after visiting the museum, shop and factory next to the cafe.

Chanced upon this place when thinking about a morning coffee stop. I had heard of David Mellor but didn't realise he designed such a wide range of items. Interesting small museum, shop and good coffee.

My first visit to the David Mellor cafe/museum/shop was a very pleasant experience. While the food may be slightly expensive, it was tasty and well presented and the cafe staff were polite and helpful. The museum and shop, which are housed in the same building as the cafe, are well worth a visit. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon... More

We returned to the café/shop/museum numerous times and without doubt it is one of the best cafes and interesting locations we have been to. Can't fault it for food, drinks and service

Excellent service and food in a cafe surrounded by work by David Mellor, a designer who's had an impact on everyone's lives. If you haven't heard of Mellor look him up. The cafe is very clean and well laid out. Bright and interesting. The food was great but £6.50 for a cheese sandwich? The quality was high but £6.50?!

DAvid Mellor was an icon and his work is beautifully represented by his son Corin who now runs the business the museum, gallery, and cook shop are fabulous. The cafe is excellent and a lovely place to visit. Seeing some of David Mellors wonderful inventions like the traffic lights is sensational. Much recommended. A wonderful stop off point in Hathersage

The place does not have a warm feel, the décor is somewhat grey and clinical, BUT it feels clean and sterile – which is no bad thing at a place for eating and drinking. Crockery, cutlery etc. has always been spotless. Prices are a tad high BUT not extortionate, and not for the overall quality on offer. The menu is... More

If you are in Hathersage and near the station, the David Mellor Café is well worth a visit, good quality coffee and a nice selection of cakes served with a smile. The Café also has a nice small exhibition about Sheffield cutlery and some design contributions by David Mellor (the traffic lights in the Café being a good example)

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here today - grilled halloumi salad: cheese succulent (its so easy to let it dry out and get rubbery but this was perfect), lovely fresh salad and roast veg. Nice cafetiere of coffee and pleasant, professional service - all served, of course, on beautiful tableware and with the very finest cutlery made in the (charming and... More
