Went with friends after a walk, even though one of the party had booked for 25 people there were not enough seats for us all, not a brilliant start. Personally I think the food is overrated, Main menu - where's the veg ! Light meals - the burger was about half size of the bread cake it came out on... More

Thanks very much for a lovely post-walk meal! This was a great pub with a comfortable, family-run atmosphere. The menu was thoughtfully designed, the food was generous, fresh, and tasty, and the service was cheerful and excellent, including a near-psychic ability to offer to refresh our drinks right when we needed. The tomato and rocket pissaladiere was gorgeous, and my... More

Ticked all my boxes. Attentive staff. Plenty of good choices. The filet steak was cooked to perfection. I asked to replace the peppercorn sauce with garlic butter - no problem. Its spotlessly clean, with nice fires. The Plough is also has a nice garden for summer visits

Moved away from the area and just returned after a visiting about 3 years ago. The Plough is excellent. The setting is lovely, the menu is varied, the service is friendly and the food is brilliant. Will certainly return soon,

Friends from near and far gathered here for dinner the night before a wedding we were attending. We were a large friendly bunch, many of us hadn't seen each other is 30 years. The staff were amazing, got our orders correctly, served in a timely manner and despite the fact that we rather took over the place and all arrive... More

Found this place whilst doing a 10 mile walk in the Hathersage area. We only popped in for a "lite bite" at the end of the walk so didn't sample the main menu. The staff were certainly friendly and welcoming and there was a nice atmosphere about the place. We both opted for soup and a sandwich (£8.50 each) which... More

Visited for Sunday lunch. Leek and potato soup excellent followed by roast beef , more than you could eat, as ever I could not fault anything. Service very good , staff efficient and helpful we're always given a warm welcome by the owner. There is no need to go anywhere else. Superb.

Just had a meal for 8 guests, and chose this mainly as I was looking for somewhere on the way between Manchester airport and Sheffield city centre. Lovely old building with plenty of atmosphere, plenty of staff even late on a Monday night, a menu with loads of choice and not overly expensive. The quality of the food was excellent,... More

I recently visited the Plough with friends for dinner. My expectations were high having had an enjoyable meal on the last visit. However these were dashed for me with a sub standard meal. My meal began with a complimentary item which tasted and looked like a tea spoonful of mince with a scraping of paper on the top. It was... More
