A lunchtime visit for my wife's birthday should have been a treat. In previous years we have enjoyed dining here, but never again. Tiny portions, despite asking for large pieces of fish (it did not escape our notice that other patrons who seemed to be friendly with the staff were served enormous pieces of fish!!! I couldn't believe my eyes... More

Stood in queue with a couple of others. All the staff could clearly see me waiting. Then stated not cooking anymore. UTTERLY annoying. Just offered chips. I came out as my husband wanted cod & chips. So I told him there is only chips. I was so annoyed I didn't go back in. When he went in least than three... More

Having been visiting Southwold for 50 years , I could not count the number of people I have recommended trying out this place. Last visit in October was average but put it down to a bad day . Sadly on Wednesday all four of us decided this place has lost its niche position in the town. Fish was bland ,... More

Good quality fish and chips cooked to order. Takeaway also popular here. Need to get in early to eat in as there is limited seating. Prices a touch high but it is a tourist resort after all.

Really average. A large cod was just the tail end of a very meagre fish, and the three medium cods seemed like they may have been frozen blocks of fish. If they were from fresh fish, i stand to be corrected...but regardless, it was still very disappointing. The batter was thin and soggy. The chips were plentiful, but we thought... More

After wandering around Sothwold failing to find a pub that wasn't fully booked we were delighted to stumble upon Mark's Fish Shop. The staff were friendly and the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. There's a rather novel side where you can sit and eat in which we did, whioe the take away customers go in through a side... We were staying in a cottage nearby and the owner recommend Marks fish and chips so was looking forward to it. Unfortunately they only had cod available and I enjoyed mine as batter wasn't thick. Unfortunately the chips were pretty awful- dried up, hard and ended up in the bin! It was reasonable but Felt let down as id rather... More

We've been coming here for some years and always found it fine, but today my husband's fish - he was the only one of our group to order cod - was dreadful. It looked grey and had a strange texture, as if it had been previously frozen, and was completely tasteless. We took it back and we're offered a new... More

Wet lunchtime in February. Surprisingly busy. Eat in fish and chips, great value and brilliant quality, as usual.
