Had a Sunday roast here, it was gorgeous and a fantastic price. However the staff were very dismissive and just seemed keen to get your wallets out and the next party at the table. We have been here before a few months back for dinner in the week, there was a different waitress who was not there this time- she... More

What a warm welcome we received (four friends & four dogs) in this charming old Pub-restaurant. The young ladies who served us were most delightful, and the food we chose for lunch was exceptionally nice. A perfect lunch stop after a tour of the 1066 battlefield (which was also excellent).

We came in for lunch to celebrate the 70th birthday of a family member on New Year's Day. We had luckily prebooked a table as it was rather busy. The menu, although predominantly offering roast dinners, also offered a choice of skate and steak. Plenty of choice for all. My husband and I opted for the pork loin (can't resist... More

I was part of a group of 8 who went for Christmas dinner. The food itself was lovely, well presented and very tasty. The only negative was that we were placed in the room to the side of the main restaurant which made it seem as if we were forgotten about as we only saw any staff when they came... More

The car park was almost empty; and when we got inside the tables were empty (although some filled up later), this worried us. We both ordered roast pork for lunch. The pork had fat round it which was not cooked so perhaps the pork was not cooked through properly. The crackling was solid and not edible. The swede was not... More

I visited here in September and again in early December. My recent visit was set to be an equally pleasant experience and the food and wine was good. Unfortunately, there were three dogs in the restaurant and this really took the shine off the overall comfort of the evening. One was very large and sat underneath it's owners table of... More

Staying in Battle over Sunday evening we went in search of Sunday roast and the Chequers certainly did not disappoint. I had beef, my husband had lamb, great Yorkshires, lovely veg, and rich gravy. We then shared the five different local cheese board, which although a mistake from stomach capacity was really lovely. Very good service, very old atmospheric pub,... More

Last Thursday was the first visit to the Chequers Inn for many years and oh what an experience. Two on our table had dietary needs. One being dairy free and the other being very limited in what they can eat (we'd already looked at the menu online to make sure that there was something on there that was suitable) but... More

Went here for evening dinner, we were not disappointed. The quality was excellent presentation rustic. Good casual dining much better than your average pub fare. Need to book at weekends as very popular. Service good staff seem well trained in delivering good service. Have now eaten here 3 times and always been pleased. Thank You.

We had lunch at e Chequers today and came away disappointed... Usually we have the lovely pretty girls serving us! However today we had the spray tanned guy serving us ... we ordered chicken liver parfait to share- when he brought the plates he used his fingers to scrape something off one of the plates before putting them on the... At Chequers we aim to provide a new way to dine, a relaxed vintage atmosphere, exciting rustic British food and a classic British bar.

With our chefs locally sourcing ingredients from only farms that we have firsthand knowledge of, foraging for those special ingredients that are forgotten on menus today and preparing every dish to let the flavours of each ingredient excite the taste buds exactly how they should.
This all mixed with our excellent wine list of classic and some very unusual great wines, and a classic British bar, we hope that once enjoyed you will just want to keep coming back.
