Popped in here Sunday on the off chance for a late ROAST, we were not disappointed, staff lovely. Three different meals, all were perfect, roast, liver and steak and ale pie. Worth every penny. We will be back. Not one criticism to be found, perfect. Thank You xx

It was for a funeral and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The buffet style food was plentiful and very well presented and tasted fresh.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Stay in Premier Inns regularly and tire of the same old chain pub food. Tried The Dog and Crook after reading tripadvisor reviews and have to agree. A must try if your in the area!

Very nice Saturday lunch here, the main menu is pretty standard but they have a dozen or so specials which are more varied and interesting, with some good fresh fish options. Staff were very accommodating, adapting a couple of dishes due to allergies. Well kept Heineken rounded off an excellent meal.

Stayed with a friend of mine who lives locally. I always love visiting this bar ,not pretentious at all, lovely people and staff.Steve is a great new asset behind the bar, nothing is too much trouble for him and he is a natural professional. So looking forward to returning on my next visit down.

Food scrummy, staff we ok, but accommodating when asked to alter food slightly. Good if you like pies Had smoked haddock, mash and spinach, was suppose to have poached egg and hollandaise sauce but I asked for these to be left off. Food still scrummy.

I thought the menu rather uninspired. The tempura prawn starter was good, but it was downhill from then on. Quite an average chicken and leek pie followed by stock cheesecake. My wife found her chicken too salty. No specific issues, but I found nothing to lift our experience above the average.

Booked a table for four people for Sunday lunch. Lots of choice on the menu but we decided to have the roast dinner for £10.95. I went for the trio of meats .The meal was beautifully presented, large portion and was very tasty. We will definitely be returning. Service was good and the best bit was the dog was allowed... Great little pub, country vibe and staff that can't do enough. Came here for lunch with my nan, and was offered a choice between the bar area or quiet room around the corner. Chose quiet room ... brilliant for my nan! Food was lovely! Good portion sizes too! Would recommend!

First visit to this pub, went for a late Sunday lunch with friends. Walking into the pub we recieved a warm welcome and given a choice of table. The atmosphere was warm & relaxed. There was a lovely open log fire, and a restful vibe, real candles on tables and tasteful decor complimented this traditional country pub. Good roast dinner... More
