Visited Saturday 26 Nov for dinner with my husband with high hopes. The pub is lovely with a roaring fire and comfy leather settees. We ordered Lamb for me from the Specials board which arrived looking amazing. However the lamb was totally inedible, very sinewy and far too pink for the cut of lamb used. I was so hungry that... We have been before and have always had an enjoyable meal. It is an old country pub restaurant and serves varied modern pub menu. We go with quite elderly relatives who sometimes need a little time to choose and order, the staff are, and always have been very helpful and bend over backwards assist. Lots of choice and always a... More

Quaint off the main road pub with plain English food to fill your stomach.Reasonable choice of menu. Staff friendly and efficient. My only moan is, I felt the gravy a bit too salty and this is from a person who does not buy products that say 'less'salt'

Day visit to this pub two years ago, place is still lovely but very busy - (it was Sunday) but the menu seemed to have changed quite a bit. Couple of specials but not much would jump out for a foodie, staff were on the ball though and a very short walk from High Street

We were really pleased with our meal here, all the ingredients were very fresh and the desserts were outstanding! Good, home cooking at honest prices - well worth a visit if you're in the area. Staff are also very friendly.

Busy atmosphere, but service remained excellent. Food was simple but good. We chose the pub on location and the reviews and we were not disappointed. Walking distance to our hotel on Lyndhurst High St.

Very attractive, thatched pub, with great food. Recommend the faggots with beautiful rich gravy. Cosy ambience.

Great welcome for us and the kids. Fabulous service from mike the landlord and food was great to boot. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Thoroughly recommend.

Found this pub while doing a New Forest walk. Great staff, decent portions of excellent food all in a beautiful pub with lovely atmosphere. Beer garden looks nice, but was a bit chilly to try. Would go back if ever down that way again.
