Now this is a very strange dining establishment, it does not really achieve anything that we expected. It is very stark and lacking any sort of atmosphere all very new, quiet and untouchable not at all a family venue. We arrived at lunchtime with two young grandchildren (4 & 7 yrs) as we thought that pizzas would be a good... More

Thank you for your review. I regret that you did not enjoy your dining experience with us. We have among our guests families with children of all ages who have returned to stay with us over decades, so much do they appreciate both the tranquility and the fact that they find us so family friendly. They love dining on the... More

We ate outside on the decking as we had our dog with us, but this wasn't a problem as it was a beautiful day. The food was fresh, well-cooked and full of flavour. My partner and I both had a Chicken and Bacon Caesar salad. I normally don't like anchovies, but the ones on this salad were really nice. The... More

We have been here with our children three times now and have always enjoyed it. The service has always been good, the pizzas are excellent and the surroundings are beautiful. The children can play in the garden within site of the terrace, while we wait for food and while we finished our food. This is one of the best places... More

Thank you very much for posting a review. We are delighted you count us among the best places to eat on the Island. Thank you so much :) The surroundings will be even more beautiful when the walled garden is fully restored. More

Hostile, nasty, weird. Utterly baffled that this place should have a sign on the gate saying it's still a hotel and non-residents are welcome. You'd get a nicer welcome at Castle Dracula.

These are strong feelings indeed, and yet it took you a full 8 months to post your review...Thank you for your trouble nonetheless. However, your criticisms are un-constructive, and therefore of no help to us, since you do not mention the circumstances that resulted in your extremely negative experience. Certainly it can have nothing to do with the rural peaceful... More

Twenty of us booked for pizzas ciabattas and salads, although we had ordered ahead we sat for half an hour before anyone came to greet us or offer any drinks. The service was dour and surly and although the food was satisfactory we were made to feel most unwelcome. Wanting to pay separately for our meals seemed a huge inconvenience... More

Thank you for posting a review. Our waiter ensures that each guest is greeted upon arrival and shown to a table. I am sorry you feel that he was not sufficiently attentive to your party. Your party did not arrive all at once, but rather in smaller groups of perhaps two or three over a half hour period. During this... More

Not into Pizza's but had a cup of tea and a lovely chat with the waiter. Farringford is the home of Lord Tennyson. If you like fresh Pizza's straight out of the Pizza oven and to watch it being cooked this is the place. A lovely outdoor terrace too for the good weather. Until you get inside you would think... Thank you for posting such a thoughtfully considered, well balanced and fair review. We have this season chosen to focus our attention where we excel, which is in the creation of our delicious homemade pizzas, making full use also of our pizza oven. Our pizzas have proved the most popular choice with families staying in the cottages and also with... More

Sat outside in the warm sunshine and tucked into a gorgeous cream tea comprised of a very generous number of huge scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. A veritable feast with a big pot of tea. The waiter had mislaid his happy pills otherwise a definite 5 star award.

Having previously found it difficult to find a good meal on this part of the Isle of Wight I was delighted by this new restaurant. Very friendly service, good value and outstanding pizzas made before your eyes in the huge wood-fired pizza oven. Very nice location, especially if you staying at Farringford, which has improved out of all recogition in... More

This was our second visit to the Garden Restaurant. There was only one other table occupied and we hovered around for quite a while before being acknowledged and a menu appearing. We had to request water also as,although glasses on the table, it wasn't offered. I like fish but the only fish on the limited menu was an enormous fish... More

This restaurant has a proper, wood-fired pizza oven but, other than that, not much character. Other diners' conversations echoed making it seem very noisy. The main dish portions were large, but the menu choice - other than pizza - was a bit limited. The chicken breast in my dish was huge, and tender, but rather swamped by the tomato based... More
