Last minute decision to take my mother in law out for dinner, good choice. Nice food (even for a 87 year old). Dessert was to die for caramel apple tart tartin had to wait 15 minutes for it, as i was told when I ordered it, so much nicer than someone preheating something in the microwave. Emma was our waitress... More

we arrived towards the very end of Sunday Service and in all honesty I thought we would be getting burnt offering We were certainly wrong with that thought we had drinks and then went to carvery and everything was a fresh as having just been cooked Ok the beef was slightly ( various ) were plentiful and the ladies found... Lovely decor. However, not met at entrance for Prosecco and Canapes. We therefore went straight into the bar. Ushered into ballroom 50 minutes before food served, Enormous centrepiece on table obscured view of my fellow diners on our table. Had to ask for water glasses. Soup different to advertised. Dessert different to advertised, contained nuts which I shouldn't eat. Poor wine... More

I stayed at the Coniston and tried the restaurant and found the food to be of a nice quality and extremely tasty. I was rattling around in the restaurant as there was only 3 guest in but it was mid week. I would recommend as my experience was nothing like what is portrayed in the previous reviews the Holiday inns... More

I have eaten here previously & enjoyed the experience. It is now a Holiday Inn establishment. We had a very disappointing experience & I wont be eating there again. We arrived to find a very overcrowded bar, with only 2 bar staff to serve around 100 diners, needless to say a 15 plus minute wait ensued while we queued for... More

We booked a family meal at the Coniston for an 18th birthday celebration. Overall, I was a little disappointed. There is no doubting that the carvery offer is good value for money but when we queued at the serving area, no staff were visible to carve the meat. Eventually a chef appeared but the vegetables and potatoes then needed topping... More

The Sunday Carvery is a good deal, that can't be denied. However the roast dinner itself isn't particularly special, I could cook better at home. The veg needed at least another 7-8 minutes when we went at the weekend and everything else was pretty standard, lamb was nice but nothing to write home about really. Starters are fairly bland and... You cannot fault the breakfast something for everyone. The dinner needs some work and flavour. The wine was very nice. The serving staff were friendly. We waited a long time for the food and I was not impressed. Most disappointing.

Finding a good hotel with 'Proper' disabled facilities can be very difficult. Most hoteliers have no idea whet it is like to be a carer looking after someone confined to a wheelchair. We have used the Coniston several times now on our visits to friends in Kent because the disabled facilities her are very good and the staff are so... More
