The seafood at this restaurant is absolutely top notch. We had lunch there this week and thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, which wouldn’t be out of place in a Michelin restaurant in London. Would recommend anyone to pay it a visit, but you need...to be on the ball with booking it as they only take reservations 7 days in advance. The only reason I didn’t give it 5/5 is that we were late sitting down and they rushed us off the table as they had another booking, but having said that it wouldn’t put me off dining there again, such was the quality of the food.More

Rang at 8am the previous Sunday to be sure of getting a lunchtime table this Sunday at 2 (was told to ring this early !) Had a great lunch with my friend, crabcakes , scallops and raspberry tart, all superb and very filling. They only...have 4 tables and I found it incomprehensible that 2 tables didn't turn up, didn't ring to cancel and actually had given fake numbers. What is it with some people...utter morons! Fortunately it looked like they were doing a roaring trade with picnic boxes and cook at home boxes to compensate a bit ! Had air conditioning by the way which was utter bliss in the sweltering heat. Well done Mark, Delia and your hard working team !More

Trying to get a table here can be challenging at the best of times, for good reason. We took a chance and walked in late afternoon and managed to bag a table for an hour for a late, light lunch. The food is outstanding and...the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We had the scallops and the ceviche of lime marinated john dory from the small plate menu and the smoked salmon, the crab cake and salmon pate from the counter. All were excellent. The john dory dish was just perfection, with a subtle mix of flavours to excite the palate. The scallops were divine. It was also lovely that they had gluten free crackers available for the pate. They also separated the various elements of the scallop dish to keep the gluten parts separate, which was a lovely touch. One of the best parts of the Wheelers experience is the bill. For the quality of food on offer the bill was very reasonable. We will be regulars here from now on.More

We found this little place and absolutely loved it. The oysters were delicious and tasted fresh, the crab dish was super nice and refreshing. We especially enjoyed the halibut in the saffron sauce. The shrimp benedict was not our favourite (tasted very cinnamon-y). The only...comment about the oysters is that perhaps they would be even tastier served on some ice so they don't heat up too quickly at room temperature. Otherwise amazing place!More

During my trip to Whitstable I managed to eat at all the top rated seafood restaurants. After Wheelers, I ask myself why did I waste my time anywhere else. Wheelers surpasses ANY and I mean ANY seafood restaurant that I have ever been to. In...fact, if I were you I would book two reservations and you will thank me later. The chefs art (his ideas and food) are so beautifully simple and HIS OWN. You have not tried any version of what this kitchen will serve you. Okay...maybe you have had a strawberry souffle...but NOT AS GOOD AS THIS ONE!!! Scallops or dumplings or lobster tart...you will dream of them all once you have had them. There is not one dish that disappoints. The scallops, the halibut, brill... seafood heaven. My suggestion go more than once and complete the menu. We did. And the first time I stupidly walked by the case of food to go. Today as I left ready to watch the England game and completely stuffed I hold in my arms a platter of shrimp, seafood sausage rolls, arancini balls, homemade taramasalata, fresh baked bread and items that if I continued would make you stand outside all night till they open at 10 tomorrow. My summary: from the staff to all the chefs you feel loved and feel as if each dish was written and made for you. There is no better chef and no better restaurant I have ever been to. fight me on it and you will lose.More

Outstanding from start to finish. Even for a non-oyster eater, the menu had a great range of options, all with superb quality fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and great service. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

We have visited a few times before and we are never disappointed. Presently the lunch menu is an offering of small plates and you can order as many as you like. They come up staggered and we shared them as they arrived. Lovely choices included:...oysters baked or cooked; ceviche of John Dory; baked crab; crab salad; fish and chips; calamari; scallops in pea veloute; prawns and chips and more. We really enjoyed the opportunity to try different things so liked the small plate concept. We finished the meal by sharing a chocolate and caramac brownie with vanilla ice cream which was ideal for 2 but would have been too rich to eat it all. There are only 4 tables available with sittings at 12 and 2 so it's very small. You can byo wine with a £3 corkage added per table. Wheeler's hasn't lost its charm and is as good as ever.More

This place truly is... Simply the best! I have yet to have the pleasure of eating in but we can never leave Whitstable without grabbing some homemade delights from Wheelers. The smoked salmon and horseradish pate is literally to die for. The curried haddock fish...cakes and fish pies make the most delicious midweek dinner that you can throw in the oven - oh and not forgetting the quiches and tarts. Just go and eat everything - you won't be disappointed!More
