A gang of us went here for a pub crawl after the Christal market. Dog and child friendly - it was great. Found a good corner and set ourselves in for a few hours. Good selection of drinks and very reasonably priced. We did a round for 6 for £16!!

What a great find! We Absolutely love coming back to visit this wonderful family friendly and very warm welcoming pub. The food is just amazing.... I have to say my favourite would be the steak. I would also most definitely recommend trying some of the Gins they have to offer.... I wasn't a gin drinker until I came here....just super!

In a world of dreary carveries, and overcooked beef, the concept of eating out on a Sunday lunch has become a bit of a chore. At least it was until we decided to try The Royal Oak. We have driven past it countless times "that looks nice" we'd say, and then drive on, never managing to find the time to... More

Was staying in a nearby village & didn't want to travel far, so drove the short journey to Burton Leonard. There are two eating & drinking establishments in the village, but, it seems one is under going refurbishment, so, we visited the Royal Oak, & was not disappointed at all!. Lovely fresh home cooked food, good choice on a relatively... More

I'm not a big contributor on here but I fealt I had to leave a review after visiting this idyllic little gem of a Yorkshire country Pub. My wife and I had heard good things about the Royal Oak from a number of friends however I'm not a great believer in recommendations as they are usually disappointing and your left... More

Sunday lunch for four , squashed in the dining room elbow to elbow with the next table, I contacted them the next day to advise that on checking the bill we had been overcharged as instead of 4 x 2 courses , we had been charged 2 x 2 courses and 2 x 3 courses , two weeks later no... More

Enjoyed a super lunch with friends. The food was plentiful and tasty. Really loved the accompanying vegetables, a whole range of different veg which made a great change to usual fare. Service was prompt and friendly; the house red delicious.

We've been to the royal oak for dinner on a Saturday evening. We didn't book but we got there at about six (apparently they start serving food after 6pm). The pub looks good, it gives you the impression of a family run business. We didn't order any starters, but some wine (i had a sauvignon blanc which I'm afraid to... More

The food is always excellent I don't think people would expect such good food in a country pub, selection of gin's are impressive too.

We needed a child friendly pub for Sunday lunch. This pub was recommended on Mumsnet. We were not disappointed. The village is lovely, the pub is nestled beside a beautiful church and green. We were made very welcome by Katie Hales the joint proprietor. Her partner Daniel Parry is the chef, and a very good one. A very good menu... More
