Great club sandwich, filter coffee and a large portion of carrot cake. What more do you want for £15 for two.

Popped in for lunch yesterday based on other reviews and was so pleased we did. The staff were really friendly and the place was so cosy like going back in time to Grannies house. Hubby had an amazing ploughman's which came with 3 types of cheese and a lovely salad and I had a bacon, Stilton and cranberry panini which... More

Oldy worldly tea room serving excellent food, thoroughly enjoyed our Smoked Salmon and Prawn Stack followed by Cream Tea Service was incredibly slow but the place was extremely busy as it was half term. Tried to catch the waitress's eye a number of times to order and then to order dessert but they did not seem to respond

club sandwich amazing, toasted sandwich tasty, jacket potato with corned beef amazing too Really cozy and snug - dogs welcome which really surprised us but was great as we didn't need to leave him in the car. We booked so would recommend this as there was 6 of us. Very friendly and lots of variety on the menu

Returned here after a previous visit a couple of years ago. Every type of sandwich you could imagine, all served with salad and coleslaw, plus hot spuds/soup etc. Totally delicious and HUGE portions - fantastic value for money. Did I mention how delicious it all is? And they are licensed to serve wine too (if you order food).

A quaint cellar restaurant with a timewarp feel to it. Excellent food at competitive prices and served by friendly, helpful staff.

What a little hidden gem. Cosy atmosphere. Very surprised at the portion size. A lot bigger then I would have expected. Definitely one I would go back to. Great tasting food

We are a local couple who love Grannies, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some fresh hearty lunch. We go regularly and have never been disappointed. The club sandwiches are amazing and the cake is always delicious!

Grannies Tea room and Delicatessen was established around 1984, then the tearoom only held a couple of tables placed within the shop. It was only later, in 1989, that the intimate downstairs tea room was developed within the basement where the old fashioned coal chutes, old style steps, fireplace and flagstone flooring can still be seen.

Grannies is a strong advocate for the local food movement in Alnwick, and offers a wide range of local produce within the deli, shop and tea room.
