The food was mediocre. Service was very fast, maybe a little too fast as we felt rushed. Fine for a quick meal at a cheap price.

Christmas lunch was complete waste of money. Photo's on the website are not representative of what is actually served. Starters: 1 Soup & 1 smoked salmon which were very nice. Game terrine was overcooked and crumbly. Main Courses: Roast beef was cooked rare and was...chewy, same with the lamb. Friend's comments - still mooing and baaing! We suspected the beef was not sirloin. It had no flavour. Friends were less than impressed to receive pigs in blankets and stuffing with lamb and beef. No sign of Yorkshire puddings and proper gravy. My other friend had turkey, which was again was overcooked. There was no difference in the taste of the gravy. Clearly a generic and gloopy gravy to save the chef work. The roast potatoes barely had any colour and zero crunch. The vegetables again were overcooked. Desserts: The Christmas pudding was OK, but nothing special. Couldn't taste the brandy in the sauce / butter. My other friend had the pear dessert, which was firm. Staff were friendly and attentive. The bill for the food was £220.50 not including drinks. A large bill for 3 people for substandard food. I wish that Scottish Establishments would make their chef's visit Yorkshire and Lancashire and take lessons on how to make roast dinners. We had high hopes for the food and left deflated and with empty pockets. Sadly we do not recommend.More
Absolutely fantastic Xmas meal. The menu was wonderful, so much choice. Crayfish avocado and chilli bruschetta was fabulous. The turkey with all the trimmings was lovely , great selection of vegetables too. I was disappointed that I couldn’t manage a sweet as the selection was...great very tempting! Service was great friendly and efficient as always. Looking forward to you reopening in February, I hope all staff enjoy the well deserved break .More
Great tasty homemade food always excellent choice of the menu and smaller portions. Service always excellent, even with the sudden passing of there head chef recently you all made him proud throughout Christmas im sure, well done to you all.
A massive thank you to you all for the wonderful welcome we received on Christmas Day . The food was truly delicious, served piping hot , very good portions with ample vegetables. The bonus of a giant cookie and mince pies were adorable ♥️. Would...highly recommend if you’re in the area . Thank youMore
We had a really good meal here with two of us going for the roast turkey and two for the beef medallions. For starters three of us had the scallops which were absolutely lovely. The beef medallions were cooked beautifully and the roast turkey went...down well. Only one dessert was taken and that was Eton Mess and was very enjoyable.More
We were here on Saturday 9th for Christmas night out. The meal was great, and the staff were very attentive.we finished night out with one of our friends playing guitar. All in all great night
Great food and great service for our works Christmas party. 5 stars and would thoroughly recommend to anyone!
On holiday in the area and was looking for somewhere nice to have lunch, so glad we stumbled across the Queens Head! Food was fantastic, one of the best lasagne’s I have ever tasted. Service was amazing and our waitress could not have been more...helpful and friendly. Excellent value for money, highly recommend and will definitely be back.More
Called in on speck having seen their blackboard early bird offer although we hadn't booked luckily got a table my husband had a starter (I prefer a dessert) which was sweet potato and pumpkin it was absolutely delicious yes I had to try it! For...main I had my ultimate favourite a lasagne my birthday favourite meal,, omg it was gorgeous, my husband had Eyemouth haddock which was excellent, next I choose a chocolate cake/vanilla ice cream dessert and although my husband wasn't going to have dessert he couldn't resit and asked for their sticky toffee pudding which wasn't on the eatlybird offer but we were told that he could go off deal Hahaha!! our waitress had picked up on our conversation that it was my birthday and brought my dessert with a little candle and a small bag of birthday chocolates both desserts were of the very best quality we were both blown away by not only the excellent meals but the amazing service from the lovely Jordan who went out of her way to make my birthday so memorable thankyouuuuuuu so much and we'll definitely be returningMore
We had a quick pit stop at the Queens on the Berwick leg of our coastal walk. The food was just what we wanted. Tasty minted pea soup and sandwiches washed down with shandies! The staff were super efficient and friendly. Cheese savoury sandwich was...just the ticket! Thank you.More
Wonderful traditional hotel. The food was exceptional, locally sourced and beautifully cooked. Prices were realistic, considering the quality of produce and service. The staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly and we will definitely return.
Fab little very doggy and family friendly pub / restaurant. Good 'proper' pub grub and extremely thoughtful service. We had treats for the dog and sweets for the boy. Can't fault it.
I seemed to get off on the wrong foot totally with the staff who were sat at the table at the top of some stairs, because I disturbed them. Eventually a sour looking woman with a face like thunder came to ask what I wanted....I asked if they were serving light lunch / bar snacks. She muttered something under her breath, and I was unsure whether of not they were serving, but then she followed that up with , " and its cash only ".....and with that she flounced off back upstairs to her waiting colleagues. I assumed they WERE serving food but decided with that attitude they were NOT going to get our custom. Rude and off putting. obviously we didn't eat there, preferring instead to find somewhere a little more hospitable.More
Absolutely first class and friendly service. Very cosy setting. We went in for coffee and cake, very reasonable prices. The service was second to none and even made teapots of hot chocolate for my children.
