The place looks alittle old but quirky. Im working away for work as a lone dinner you can feel quite uncomfortable but here the staff were warm and welcoming. Entered into genuine conversation. The food well it's tastes as good as it looks. Pan roasted Cajun chicken from the specials board. Came with chips and veg all for £12. A... More

There was a gentleman and a few young girls serving who were friendly but the older ladies need a refresher in customer service. We went the night before to eat but hadn't booked so weren't able to get a table, however a couple came in after us who hadn't booked and they were given a table. No explanation was given... More

Called in for dinner on Saturday evening - not busy considering it was the Easter weekend - as always very pleasant welcome and happy staff. Enjoyed a chicken curry with rice and also had a Thai Burger with chips and salad. Chicken curry was tasty and very good. Homemade burger was good although was a tad disappointed with the thai... I've been really disappointed the last two times I've visited, but we enjoyed our lunch today. The burger was huge and tasty, but most of my chips were small, crunchy ones. They were still nice though. The after dinner mints were a nice touch.

Never go past this restaurant and don't go in. Fantastic Service, Fantastic Food and even now do breakfasts which I haven't had a chance to try yet, but only can imagine they will be as great as everything else on offer!

My boyfriend and I were staying in Eyemouth and drove through to the Meadow House for his birthday meal. We booked for 7pm and the place was very busy. Excellent choice on the menu and a large specials board too. We had a roast beef dinner, house chicken curry with home-made chips and a side of home-made onion rings -... More

Description
The Meadow House is an unusual pub by today's standards. No chrome, tv's, leather, little lights in the floor or pictures that look like someone threw the paint at the canvas blindfolded! To sum it up, we are a family run, unpretentious rural country pub, that aims to provide great quality home cooked food and service at a fair price; that's it!Since the early days of the A1 highway we have regularly been known as 'The First and Last Pub in England' as the Scottish Border is only a mile away. Our main emphasis is our food. Over the last 30 years we have built up a great reputation for serving only the finest quality fresh local produce from all around the borders, and lots of it!We are lucky to have great team of staff that are as interested in the business as we are. Our enthusiastic head chef Adam Bettison is relentless in his quest for ever improving our food. With help from David Hearn, the owner and chef, who was trained at Michelin starred Winteringham Fields the service is well above average for a country pub. We are locally renowned for are homemade desserts made by Edith Hearn, the proprietor and chef. For 30 years her homemade ice creams, meringues and more have tantalized the taste buds of people all over the world! The restaurant & bar are stuck in the past, with their unique decor that is farming and game orientated, and some could argue the menu; with classics like prawn cocktail, whitebait, steak and kidney pie and fish and chips is also very traditional, but why should we change? After all its food like this that help build this country! We are wheelchair friendly being on one level, and due to be being able to seat 100 we can cater for large parties including weddings & funerals. Our large car park means parking is not a problem. We are very family orientated and we can adapt for any dietary needs, allergies or dislikes, just let us know!We look forward to seeing you,David, Edith & all the Team.
