Really nice atmosphere, great staff. Perfect for a Sunday lunch. Although the beef was a bit too rare for my liking the food was superb, and the yorkshire puddings are to die for.

Just been for lunch. Great value food in comfortable surroundings. Would recommend. Staff were very friendly and most accommodating to a bunch of damp cyclists.

The wife and I popped in here earlier today for lunch and we're greeted with a warm welcome, excellent real ale and cider. The food was very tasty home cooked fayre. Seated by the solid fuel burner was just perfect too after a windy and wet morning. Looking forward to having an evening meal here when we next have the... More

Visited Burrow Mump - terrific views over the Somerset levels. Next door in the village of Burrowbridge is The King Alfred - we had a warm welcome and there was such a choice on the lunch menu. Great selection of ale and cider. Can't fault this pub - so very friendly and dog friendly (if you've got one!) as well.... More

Popped into the King Alfred .... last minute decision and we were not disappointed. The food is excellent. The staff are warm and friendly and the service is exceptional. The surroundings are a bit sparce but it's functional and It does what is says on the packet......good home cooked food. Country pub with a good ... old fashioned Somerset welcome.

Living locally it was nice to return to the King Alfred for a Sunday lunch We were welcomed with a very polite lady and told our table we had booked was ready for us. Upon getting some drinks we made our way to our table upstairs; the Pub was full with lots of happy faces and a well trained amount... More

We were looking for a pub locally that would cater for our dietary needs (my husband needs Gluten Free, and I need Lactose Free), and also would welcome our puppy. The King Alfred accommodated this and the lovely friendly atmosphere will keep us coming back for more. A lovely experience.

Whenever I see that Pyne's butchers supply a pub I know the meat will be first class. Nevertheless the chef has to do their part as well. I was not disappointed today when I had a fillet steak served under a good coarse pate with a generous helping of Daupinoise potatoes. Absolutely outstanding in every way served by friendly staff... We always love to call into the King Alfred in Burrowbridge while we are in the area. The food is first class and prices are very good value. Loved the log fire - it makes it very cosy and welcoming!! Staff are very friendly and helpful too!! Can't wait to sample another one of your specials. Thank you!!
