Went a couple of days ago only to be told that the kitchen was shut and no food apart from crisps. Apparently the ownership is changing within a day or two and a new Chef will not be in place until April!!

In the centre of Shipston on Stour the White Bear proved a useful place to eat. A "pub restaurant", the menu was varied and the food served well, although the ambiance was somewhat crowded and squashed beyond the bar. We are told there is a good room for larger groups.

White bear as a pub and restaurant is very good, I've never stayed in the hotel so can't comment on that but the food here is absolutely amazing. Although the George next door may look the part, the food here at the bear is honestly the best around shipston. The owners have clearly got themselves a marvellous chef and the... More

Decided for a drive out for lunch and stopped at Shipston-on-Stour. Chose the White Bear totally at random. Good service, good food and thoroughly enjoyable.

Three couples decided to get together at the white bear. A friendly pub, the rooms were basic but clean and functional, very comfortable bed, food was very good, breakfast's varied and ample, staff friendly and courteous, the narrow steep stairs to the rooms make it difficult for some, overall an enjoyable stay, would come back again if in the area.

I come here quite often on recreational visits with colleagues and friends and I have to say usually it is adequately pleasant however the attitude of one of the barmaids is so off-putting it discourages me from visiting again. Sucking a lemon is an understatement. She is rude and ive never once seen her crack a smile. Other than this... More

We popped into the White Bear inn as the weather had changed so quickly thunder storms and lightening and what a great place it was, very friendly locals and food excellent would loved to have an evening meal in there as the snack we had was first class

First visit - what a lovely ambience. Full of locals drinking and eating. This pub works! Good pub food and local Donnington beers. The other pubs in Shipston were quiet - says much about the White Bear! Saturday lunch time when we called for a drink and snack. We will certainly return.

After a trip to the Cotswold Distillery we stopped off in Shipston on Stour for a bite off lunch. A small little High St Pub/Hotel with wonderful food I can recommend the Pie of the Day (Beef & Ale) with Chips & Veg. A lovely little town to walk around and well worth a visit
