Booked with 2 local friends for a catch up before they head off on their sailing travels to France and beyond. We wanted something nearby and straightforward pub food , which the Black Horse provides. We just had main courses which were fine. The gammon, egg, peas chips etc was just as expected, the steak and kidney pies, with fresh... More

We went for dinner on Friday ...was busy evening but they should be ready for this. We was waiting 45 min for our main course which one wasn't worth it to wait that long. And they didn't even apologise but with this kind of stuff working in this Pub you can't expect too much. They forgot about our drinks... when we... More

We went for the Sunday Carvery. Good selection of meat (turkey/lamb/beef & Pork) and good portions. We've been here for carvery's befor,e and the only downside for the Mothers day meal there wasn't any crackling nor pigs in blankets (which we've had on our previous trips) I can only assume because it was Mothers day, they knew they'd be busier... We were staying at spa up the road and walked to the pub. arriving at 7. It's dog friendly and as we entered were greeted by another dog and owner who were friendly, locals I suspect. The young lady came from behind the bar to tell us that she was sorry but no food tonight as chef had gone sick... More

It's always been a favourite location, but over the years ownership has changed and so has quality. We had a good lunch - good pub food - and a lovely pint of ale. Friendly barmaid, dog-friendly, nice atmosphere - all in all, a good pub lunchtime experience.

My wife and I went here for lunch on date day. We'll never return. Not at all busy but there was only one member of staff on - we know this because she told us; at least twice. The food was mediocre at best and very small portions- my dressed crab was more egg than crab and the boiled potatoes... More

Down a small lane and not far from the sea this pub rambles around but it has open fired, good beer and honest food. There is live music some evenings.

We popped in her while staying in a hotel up the road. Drinks are quite expensive compared to other local pubs, but it was convenient and a nice local pub with character.

As a family of 6 we made a last minute booking for Saturday evening. Can't fault the food at all, proper pub meals at such a reasonable price. Portions were very generous and everything tasted great. Just need to improve on the service which was somewhat slow.
