Lunchtime visit with friends. loved the sound of the upmarket Turkey sandwich with salad and cranberry sauce but what we got was dry white sliced bread, cheap pre packed turkey slice, with no salad. Very disappointing. The pub was empty( I now know why) and when we told the barman that there were drips coming through the roof onto our table... More

Food was ok at best but sparse - carrots were cold On the plus side deserts were very nice Staff- by poor We had to ask them foe deserts, drinks, and the card machine to pay for the meal. The two girls who served appeared to be very inexperienced The tall slim guy at the bar never asked how the meal... More

Popped in with my wife for a drink and a meal. We were so pleased to find out that the Chequers had re-opened after a brief closure. Even more pleased that they were serving two local ales from Kissingate Brewery... Quite the perfect day!

My friend and I popped into this once very popular country pub and found that it had changed hands once again !!! We decided only to have one drink as we were the only ones in that night and to be honest there was not a great choice of beers, even though on the bar there were an array of... More

We arranged a wake for my Father consisting of a buffet. The food was excellent, great variety, all freshly made on the day, nothing was too much trouble even when we increased the amount of people the day before. You certainly did not go away hungry. The Landlord and his wife did an excellent job. Thank you. Would highly recommend

This places changes hands more times than a £5 note, it looks great from the outside, however visited there for a pint of Harvey's to find only one beer one tap, and it wasn't Harvey's, the friendly landlord explained the pub was under emergency management and why would they want to offer more than one beer! Shame really, the bar... More

We travelled many miles as a party of five on 29th October to visit this pub and were not disappointed. The pub owners were very welcoming and greeted us as we entered, offering us a choice of seats and the service of bringing drinks to our table. They cooked us the loveliest food and the menu choices were fantastic. The... More

We had walked for 2.5 hrs on a family day out and had planned to stop here mid way on a circular walk from Balcombe. So disappointed- zero ambience sitting in huge room with just one other large table and loads of space. No atmosphere at all. To be honest if we had our car and had not walked there,... More

Went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago, the pub has new owners, limited menu only choice of dessert was sticky toffee pudding or ice cream. Food was nothing special served on enormous plates which is ridiculous as the plate swamps the food. Décor was nice, landlord said 'sorry no coffee we turn it off at 10pm as its... More
