We stopped in for lunch after trying to get here for a long time - everyone loves this place. And we were very glad we made it. Our meal included many of their signature items, including the Saurkraut balls, signature side salad, reubens with home-made chips, and fresh brewed ice tea. Our service was excellent and we enjoyed every part... More

My husband and I enjoyed a Sunday dinner at the Golden Lamb. Our food and service were excellent. The building has experienced many historical people and events; and it was interesting hearing/reading about them. We would stop again if in the area.

We've been going to the lamb now for 30 years plus and right now it is the best that it has been due to a new chef and his vision. The Sunday brunch is outstanding; I prefer the eggs benedict variations and the excellent bloody mary. Lunch is average when we do go. Dinner is always excellent and the advice... More

Restaurant is very nice with excellent service. Upstairs bedrooms and private dinning rooms restored to their original décor. Go to their website, plenty to read about . Local historian stopped by the table to give a short .of the place, very nice

Went for lunch yesterday, and 3 of the four of us in the party splurged on the turkey dinner. The house special salad was very good, but the dinner was entirely average and way too salty. The dinner is a pricy anomaly on the menu...not worth it. Our server was OK, but preoccupied with a large party and she had... More

We ate on the Black Horse Tavern side where it is a little more casual and more sandwiches and salads than full meals. The salmon salad was average but over dressed. The piece of salmon somewhat overlooked. The lamb burger was good although I ordered it because it said it had fennel on it. No sign of fennel anyplace. Just... More

The BlackHorse Tavern is cozy, intimate and friendly. We enjoy going there often. Karen and Joe can mix a fine cocktail! Try the Lebanon room some Sunday morning for brunch. It's our favorite , quiet and the food is great!

The Golden Lamb is a must stop when in Lebanon, Ohio. The character of the building and the history as one of the oldest still operating inns in Ohio makes a very special stop. The dinner was good and the service was good.

My wife and I ate here twice once for breakfast and once for dinner while we stayed at the Inn. The food and staff were excellent. The decor was nice and once again liked how original everything was. They had some different items on the menu such as I had a venison omelet. Then for dinner we just ordered the... More

The Golden Lamb is recognized as the oldest continuously operating business in the State of Ohio. On December 23, 1803, Jonas Seaman spent $4 for a license to operate a "house of Public Entertainment." The Golden Lamb got its name due to the fact that many early pioneers could not read, so giving a business a name that could be easily drawn and recognized, such as the Black Horse or Golden Lamb, was a necessity. The brick building where the Golden Lamb moved to and currently resides was built in 1815. The original building was a two story structure located where our lobby area and Dickens dining room currently stand. In 1844 a third story was added. Shortly after, in 1854 a three story wing was added which is where our Shaker and Buckeye room dining rooms currently stand. In 1878, a fourth story was added to accomodate the workers who would bring the railroad to Lebanon. The gift shop and Black Horse Tavern were added to the structure in 1964.The Golden Lamb was visited by so many prominent guests in the early 1800's because it was located halfway between Cincinnati and the National Road (U.S. 40). Robert H. Jones' ownership of the property beginning in 1926 marked the transformation of the old hotel into the great attraction and marvelous restaurant it is today. Under their guidance, the inn's great reputation became well known throughout the country. Their ownership also marked the restoration of the hotel to its original name, The Golden Lamb.
