We were here in the area for our anniversary weekend, staying at Captain Johns. We have eaten here at the Grotto many times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly service, reasonable prices and great food. Absolutely no complaints! Can easily recommend this place to our friends and family.

Rainy Tuesday in Feb, we were the only customers. Chowder in a FRESH sourdough bowl, including the part cut out (up the coast in Nye Beach, they don't give you that). The chowder was creamy and hot, and the service was just fine.

Have tried nearly all the fish places in the Coos/North Bend area. this family place beats them all for the fish dinner. LARGE pieces on yummy cod and cooked perfectly. We don't even try any where else anymore

Stopped in hoping for oysters on half shell. Waitress said it's an Oregon law they can't be served on half shell. THIS IS NOT TRUE. She said they did have oyster coctail in metal cups. Ok, we tried that. Asked for crackers. "We only have the little oyster crackers. Whoever heard of oysters without saltines. The oysters were ok but... More

Wouldn't miss the cioppino. Best part of our visit to Charleston. Love the fact that Kim is still here to welcome us after all these years.

We love the Oregon coast and its seafood so on our first night in Oregon we looked up a place for clam strips and chowder. We weren't steered wrong! The strips are light and tender, the fish and chips are very light and oh so tasty. The chips are fresh made from potatoes and fried crisp on the outside, tender... More

One of our favorite places to eat. Daughter loves to get the fried calamari, always delicious and large portions. Can't go wrong with the fish and fries with clam chowder.

While house hunting ... successfully ... in Coos Bay, my wife sent a "smart phone" picture of her scrumptious looking (and, on report, tasting) fried oyster sandwich at this restaurant. With an enormous pile of used oyster shells visible across the street, at a major oyster farm and sales outlet. So, back we recently went. Bad mistake, or a "bad... More

My family was visiting Coos County and we saw this restaurant on our way to Sunset Bay, I'm glad we decided to have dinner here because the food was really good but unfortunately the service was poor. We didn't tip much because of the poor service.
