We knew we would find good seafood where the locals eat and we definitely hit the jackpot here. The cioppino was so fresh and flavorful! We would return in a heartbeat! There was a bit of a wait for our dinner but quality does take time. The mixed drinks seemed a little pricey though.

First time in many years, but we had a coupon. The waitress was friendly and took our order promptly, but then there was a 30 minute wait, and there was only 2 other tables in front of us. I had a scallop shrimp dish with tomatoes and mushrooms, and Parmesan on top. The cheese was not melted and the sea... More

Read the reviews and frankly I was scared. The outside is a bit rough but heck the hole town is that way -- a very old fishing town. The manager of the RV park said it was the best in town. Really? Went in anyway on his recommendation. Not dirty but then not spic and span either...just old. I had... More

My wife and stopped in for a new place to try. I ordered the 5 piece fish and chips, with Cole slaw, fries, and a bowl of chowder. The chowder was OK, but had a strong onion flavor. The fish and chips came out, and the batter was kinda "ehh", and when I picked up the fish portion by hand,... More

I appreciate the fact Fisherman's Grotto offers,fish-n-chip baskets ranging from 2 pieces to 5 at fairly decent prices. That being said, how can a seaside restaurant that has been around as long as they not know how to properly batter/fry fish? The breading was thick and tasteless and the fish WAY too crumbly. If you try to douse your bite... More

We often visit this side of town for a little geocaching and a side trip to the Shore Acres Garden, especially in December to see Christmas lights. We have often eaten here and have never been disappointed with the portion sizes, taste or quality of their diverse menu. Whether it's their fish and chips or a juicy mouth watering hamburger... We walked in the restaurant and the stich about knocked me over. It smelt of dirty urinated water. I about puked in my mouth. There was trash all over the floors. The bathroom smelt horrible. I real did not want to stay. But we were so hungry and it was mid-evening and didn't want to chance other places and them... More

The off-putting smell when we entered should have been sufficient warning. But my wife hates sudden changes of plans and a local raved about the place so I put my better judgment aside and didn't walk right out. The tartar and cocktail sauces were the highlights of our meal. The chowder -- mediocre by any standard -- was the star... More

A friend and I stopped by for lunch. The restaurant is VERY plain and utilitarian, but mostly clean. Seated right away and waitress (with an irritating nervous laugh) delivered beverages quickly. We both ordered steamers and a plate with fish and shrimp. Steamers came out fairly fast. They were fresh and cooked well, but FAR from the best I've had.... More
