I highly recommend a night out at 'Table of Contents'. It's important to call ahead for reservations as they make the meal from scratch and cook to volume for the number of guests in attendance. Excellent value for the price and the food is delicious!

The format is a communal table(s) with shared family-style food, except that you order your main course ahead of time (at least 2 hours before dinner) from a daily list. The night we ate there most diners were staying at the Sylvia Beach Hotel (where the restaurant is located) - the author-themed rooms seem to attract a sociable and interesting... More

I look forward to the dinner Experience at Sylvia Beach Hotel. The 5-course meal has never disappointed (I've been there 6-8 times over the years). The Game is great fun--2 Truths & a Lie. When you play, go for the gusto, rather than shaving the truth. One table mate's "lie": she claimed was 4 months pg when she was only 2... More

The view is wonderful, the food is outstanding and the staff works really hard to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. Be prepared for many courses - o urs started with corn chowder, followed by delicious green salad, the entree we had chosen earlier (although the portobella mushroom entree was probably the best) and a dessert.

Table of Contents is the dining room of the Silvia Beach Hotel. There is a single seating, prix fixe, meal each night at 7:00 PM. The service is family style and is drawn out over almost three hours to allow the guests to get to know one another. When strangers are seated together they are encouraged to play "Two Truths... We stayed at the hotel as we have a few nights in the past, and booked to eat in the restaurant. We were eagerly anticipating playing the "Two Truths and a Lie" game that are traditional at the common tables, but the waitstaff never announced the game. There was a card on the table that we finally noticed that described... More

We stayed one night and decided to eat dinner there as well - we sat with 8 other people and they were delightful - a couple from Texas, Minnesota (not Utah), Canada and France. We talked, shared and finished the evening with "2 Truths and a Lie" so be ready - oh the food was wonderful as well. The free... More

Located in the Sylvia Beach Hotel the Tables of Content offers a delicious 3-course meal each night for a very reasonable price. The dining room overlooks Nye Beach with gorgeous sunsets! The menu changes nightly and the dinner is served family style.

Was hooked by the blackboard that touted "James Beard's mothers shortcake." Since I have that recipe and make it often I was intrigued. Yep, it was the real deal with extra sugar coating. Delish!

We live in Oregon and travel to the coast at least twice a year, so we eat out there a lot there. I didn't write a review for over a year because I don't like to give bad reviews. However, looking for a fine dining experience around Newport again and seeing all the positive reviews, made me revisit my experience.... More
