When the pretentious crowds of Hood River finally get your goat, mosey on over to Alabama Jim's and grab a wooden table with the locals. The BLT is just like your grandma made: thick-sliced bacon, local tomatoes, a generous smear of mayo, on homemade sourdough.

The food and service here are great. We had the standard bacon and eggs and it was great! The bacon was "thick sliced" and a big portion. That, with the eggs, hash browns and toast filled the plate. Top it off with the Hood River coffee which they serve, and you can't lose!

Surly waitress/cook/cashier. All smiles with the locals (even brought the coffee to their tables). When I asked for coffee the grumpy lady shot a thumb over her shoulder at the air pots on the other side of the room and told me, "help yourself". Even let some grubby local go behind the counter to fish out something to eat (cookie/pastry?)... More

A basic, inexpensive breakfast and lunch place. You definitely get your monies worth. Food was really fresh and prepared just the way we ordered it. Restaurant is located in an old gas station and easy to miss. We were directed from the local supermarket.

If you are a bacon lover, this is the place for you! They use the whole slice of the real stuff. The breakfasts are really hardy and well done and the service is good also. Lots of locals stop in, which is always a good sign. For later in the day, they serve ice cream treats.

Nothin' like a homemade breakfast with eggs and anything else you want in it. Or on a hot day, I'll come buy for their ice cream.

We left the west side of Mt. Hood and headed east to find Lost Lake...we thought we knew the route but kinda got turned around as we went through Parkdale. We had passed Alabama Jim's, so did a u-turn just to get our bearings. The fellow behind the ice cream counter was helpful about our next road/turn, so we decided to... More

They do about 20 flavours, $3 for 1 scoop, $5 for 2, but each scoop would feed 3 people. Great Ice cream, great service.
