Everything you always wanted in a dining experience. Great food, good wine and pleasant conversation. There is no menu to select from as all the courses are preselected but they were great. Nicely presented, full of flavor and not a clinker in the bunch. Even the desert was good-not overly sweet. I always recommend the wine pairing with these types... More

While in Portland for our anniversary my husband surprised me daily. I had no idea where we would be dining or what the fare would be. Let me say that he surpassed my expectations. The owner and Executive Chef of Beast is Naomi Pomeroy and is a recipient of the coveted James Beard Best Chef award. I am highly impressed!!... More

We went to Beast while we were in Portland and had a very nice evening. They have 2 seatings an evening and we suggest that you go there hungry. The food is very good, but it is also quite rich. By the time we got to the final courses I was hitting a wall. My favorite was the duck course,... More

The 6 course dinner (with an extra sample of foie gras) was fantastic! Chef Naomi Pomeroy was there, which made it extra special. The communal dining was fun, meeting a lovely group from Georgia. The wine was yummy also. All in all, a very nice Wednesday evening spent with great food & company!

Decided to go to Beast for brunch with our son home from college for the weekend. Delightful tasting menu, 'even cauliflower tasted good'. Seemed like we might leave a bit hungry, but the courses, though small, were rich and flavorful and we left satisfied. Loved too that although meat is the main attraction (based on the name), vegetables appeared and... More

This place should be the capital of flavor country. Naomi plays her kitchen like a conductor in a symphony. Each round is like a taste bud explosion.

I was expecting this to be very good, but not amazing. It exceeded my expectations. I thought that the shared/communal tables would make me uncomfortable, but I felt like I had a lot of personal space, and it wasn't an issue. The server and wine guy were both very knowledgeable and friendly. The courses were timed appropriately, so it didn't... More

This is a small restaurant where you sit family style at two long tables. Expect to be sociable and talk with your neighbors. The meal is fixed times, fixed price and fixed menu, with "substitutions politely declined." We had seven courses along with two small "bonus" tastes. All courses were small but elegantly presented and had absolutely amazing blends of... More

With a name like beast you'd think this is a meat centric place. Not! Sure this fixed price 5 course meal did have one serving of beef but that was about it. I'm not saying the meal was not good just no beasty. The meal was great though. Beautiful, with great sauces and the service was great too. Just 24... More
